Can you explain please, how this works? I'm pretty good with money, but I just can't make it add up no matter how hard I try.

So you believe it's right for the government to tax me and others to sustain you and your family? That's socialistic.

Well, I will go one step further, so if you are losing brownie points, they will probably burn my brownies.
I actually forbid my daughter from going to Bible college, at least until she was out of secular college. (it wasn't hard, she wasn't interested in going anyway)
My reasoning is that I have been around the bible college kids in our district quite extensively, and the arrogant spirit that came off of most of the kids was not something I wanted her around until she was a little older.

Nope. I believe it's right for the church and the community to support each other. But that's a pipedream.
I don't like hand outs. I don't like asking for help. I really, really hate needing it. I just want to support my family, raise my children, live my life. But I can't go from here to there alone.
I will use what few resources actually exist to get myself into a position to support myself and my family.
Someday, I'll work to make a difference for as many other people as I can. But first, I have to take care of myself cuz no one else is interested in doing that.

YOU, as a parent would pay for the religious education.
I know that it's hard to raise kids alone. But that's a reality many women have to face. We pray for you and perhaps a church school can offer you a break on tuition.
As a Christian I don't think it's right to take my tax money to fund a public school where poor welfare parents can send their children and pay nothing. And it makes matters worse when these public schools teach our kids ungodliness. The problem is that the government forces every parent to send their kids to school. The Government should back off and if parent's can't afford to home school or send their children to religious schools they should pull their kids out and educate them through life experience at home.
It's just another socialist system. I hear parents complain about the cost of education. But how often to they eat out? How much are they paying for internet access, television cable packages, that new car they bought when they should have bought used? It's all about priorities.
|
Well, I dont know what planet you r speaking of. But here on planet earth in the real world, single mothers got to do what they gotta do.
I can speak for my kids and I...we dont eat out often, dont have cable TV, my car was donated to me, and there are NO room for luxuries. I have the cheapest (dial up) internet access for my computer, donated, too, BTW.
So, after I pay rent, utilities, keep the van on the road, buy toiletries and eat..there is NO money to educate the kids. My church has a school, but they do NOT offer discounted tuition in that it costs beaucoup $$$ to run the school and it is already small and few resources. Then we are talking about N.O. post Katrina to boot.
I dont know if I read your comments the wrong way or what, but I thought they were inconsiderate. You will NEVER be a single mother, so how can you tell another single mom how to educate her kids?
Just because you pay 5 cents outta dollar to so called fund public schools...WOW!!! What an investment on your behalf????
I get SOOOO tired of hearing folks fussin about paying taxes for public schools when the amount of money that is actually coming outta your pocket is very minimal. Then u got the audacity to imply that single mothers arent budgeting their finances right so that's why they cant afford to homeschool their kids or send them to religious school! How ludicrous!!!
Word of advice, in defense of not only nahkoe, but EVERY single mother.
Keep your comments about your tax dollars funding public education to yourself.
Cuz I guarantee there are some lesbians or girls experimenting with their sexuality in MANY religious schools, too.
You say...."Not in my kids school...."
YES, YOUR KIDS SCHOOL, TOO!
Since when public schools became the problem? Since the church LET Madelyn O'Hare take prayer outta schools? Public schools used to be the schools church folks sent their kids back in the day.
The church used to be involved with their community schools. Now 30 years or so later we let the govt do what they do in there and you tellin me that only if u got $$$$ the bling then your kids deserve to be properly educated (or a better phrase is perhaps insulated) from mainstream society.
If u teach your kids what's right and what's wrong at home, it will go with them at school.
When we send kids off to college, we let them GO, right? And we trust God with them, right?
So u trying to tell me the SAME God can't keep our babies?
The devil is a LIAR!!!!!
God hasnt left single mothers. My kids and I are living testimonies of that, Boo!
TO all the single moms out there....
KEEP YA HEAD UP! GOD GOT OUR BACKS!!!!!!

Eh, I'm not conservative.
You ever wonder how people can eat out of the trash can? It's called desperation. No other option. People will do whatever they need to when they're sitting at the bottom. The government at least is willing to dole out a small amount of assistance. In an ideal world, the church would. The community would. Families would. But I don't live in that ideal world. I'll do what I have to to put myself in a position to support my family. And I'll help, encourage, and support as many other people along this impossible path as I can manage to. And someday, when I'm not so burned out doing all of this, I'll do everything I can do create reform that will leave fewer people in the position I've been in.
The only ground I've ever claimed is the ground where I say I'll do whatever I need to in order to care for and provide for my children. I don't like taking money from the government, and as soon as I can, I won't. In the meantime, I stand my ground to do whatever it takes to do the best I can by my children.

Re: Lesbian Teens Allowed At Prom -Scottsboro, AL
Lesbianism is a SPIRIT, folks.
You think if you keep your kids insulated and isolated in a good wholesome environment then the enemy can't seep in there somehow and get them to questioning their sexuality????
No, I am definitely NOT supporting lesbianism and homosexuality. I'm trying to educate you. Cuz I dealt with this spirit and have seen it in operation.
We make the mistake that if we shelter our kids that they wont be exposed to the rank sin in this world.
I got news for you. And its heartbreaking as a parent...but spirits arent confined to locations or people.
The best thing you can do is educate your kids about the issues and pray. Trust God with your kids. They were God's kids before they were ours anyways.
This is more for single parents than for two parent homes.
Dont let these folks make you squinch and feel like less of a parent b/c u dont have it going on like them. If they love God so much and knew God, they would shelf that stinkin rotten religious spirit and understand what issues single moms deal with.
And stop whining about a few cents for pete's sake!!!!
Maybe we should let our kids roam the streets during the day while they watch your kids get that wonderful education thru the window, something like they did William Seymour when they were teaching folks about the Holy Ghost!

Re: Lesbian Teens Allowed At Prom -Scottsboro, AL
Now back to the topic...
Yeah, stuff like this has been happening for years.
You as parents have to make that choice, whether you want your kids to go to the prom or not...
I had already made up my mind that I didnt want them going to the regular school prom not for this reason but just b/c there are some folks hosting Christian proms.
And they aren't stuffy and boring either!
I read of a school that had J Moss as the guest at their Christian prom.
It was da bomb diggity, I heard!
And the kids could bring their unsaved friends there and they may get witnessed to!
So it is not only used as an alternative to secular proms, but a witnessing tool, too!
I know one thing. I dont know how big Scottsboro is. But it is always ummm 'attention getting' when we see a lesbian couple embrace or kiss.
And for the most part, most kids would try to beat them up, especially here in N.O.
Kids know right from wrong....we just gotta trust them....and trust God...
