I pay my tithes to my home church, but I also make regular donations to other churches that I have some kind of connection with as well. We're all a part of THE church. Money is a sore subject, a very touchy subject in churches. Some people will say just give your money and the rest is between the leaders and God. I disagree...I will agree maybe this isn't the place to discuss this topic but It does need to be discussed. I went to several local churches a few years ago helping out a local homeless shelter and it was surprising to find out how much money was going to church employees vs. how much money was actually being used to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, outreach events etc...I'm not paying my tithes to offerings to the church to provide a place to worship on Sunday and to pay 6 or 7 full time salaries of church employees who spend less time doing ministry work than I do with a full time job to support them. I'm paying my tithes and offerings so someone I pass on the street or someone I work with can have the opportunity to hear this great Gospel and feel and experience the love of God through his Church! I would like to apologize to anyone who is offended by this, and also to our moderator. God Bless you all!
Not offended at all, Barry. You have the right to post as well as anyone else.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns

It is evident the Bible's veiws on gossip and the procedures established by scripture doesn't mean anything to you.

People have a right to be homosexuals and kill unborn babies. Do you kil babies or participate in homosexual activity? The reason you don't is because the Bible set boundaries in those areas. The Bible is just as clear about gossip.

I deliberately withheld my opinions for a number of reasons.

#1-The Bible forbids it.
#2 - The local congregation needs our prayers and encouragement a lot more than opinions from irrelevant parties.
#3 My goal is healing and restoration. You don't get there as long as people are piling excrement on the situation. How does making disparaging remarks about a Facebook photo?
#4 The facts are deliberately slanted.

'The Memphis congregation deserves better from the christian community than expressing pithy comments.

People would love to know how my attitude, which puts hurting people ahead of my right to stick my nose into someone else's business isn't helping them.

Your opinion and posting that you think people should be SILENCED, is quite disturbing. I could care less if you like my opinion or not.

You and your attitude are not helping the situation either.

Again, if you do not like what is being posted.... DON'T READ IT! No one is breaking your arm and making you read this.

Pretty simple, really.

Good points. Healing and restoration should be the primary focus. Even at the risk of exercising personal freedom.

If this was about Mr. Black alone then I would be fine with a free-for-all. As painful as it may be for him, he is reaping his own whirlwind.

The problem is this is no longer about Mr. Black. It is about a lot of other people who are innocent bystanders who are now caught in the crossfire.

Not one life has been turned upside down. MANY have been. Maybe our friend Berry is one of them. But forums with 147 pages of rehash do not heal people.

And everything said on the internet is part of your permanent record. It will be here until the sun melts the computer highway. Hurt people often speak out from their pain and anger and those are not good wellsprings for action!

What we say with our mouths most often evaporates into the either. But what we say with the tips of our fingers sticks for all to see into eternity and any reasonable person who reads and knows and can be hurt will be able to identify even the most careful anonymous person.

So my friend you may be mad at me and bluster and call for the berries of the world to “lay on” and all that, but you do no one good. And even in the end, you and all the other berries on the bush will not have assuaged your indignation.

Oh, you misunderstood me. I was saying "the leaders" at headquarters are actually rumoring that silly statement.

Of course, he didn't have a hot tub in his office.

Nothing wrong if he did. I work in health insurance. Hor tubs are covered for certain medical diagnosis.

That may be true for some, but not all. I'm pretty sure that for most people who don't participate in homosexual acts, it's because they are not homosexuals -- not because the Bible tells them not to.
