I had the same observation. That is why it is called the foolishness of Preaching.

The teacher puts aside the foolishness and takes us from the cross to Eternity.

My dad -- Bro. Bill Worrell - his Wednesday night Bible studies would be the study of a book or a particular subject - verse by verse. Some real digging into the Word. I really miss that. Just a plain old country boy, not well-educated. Wisdom from God.

Ann and Bill Luther -- I remember both these folks being excellent teachers when I was growing up

Jimmy Greer - another teacher I remember (and his wife was excellent in music matters!)

Leonard Glover - again, not a well known name, but he was TN UPC pastor for awhile and later pastored out of UPC in Illinois. Very kind, compassionate man with excellent teaching skills.

LH Hardwick. I still have notes from a class Bro. Hardwick taught when I was quite young at a TN youth camp.

JT Pugh - remember many TN camps where he was the teacher

You could not be more wrong. I am not a one issue man neither are they. They teach the post trib rapture, soul sleep, and annihilation of the lost in Hell. So do ALL OTHER Pentecostals teach this? If so let them stand up and be counted.

Back in January I was invited to speak in a Oneness Pentecostal room on Paltak . I believe this group had been meeting several times a week for at least a year or two. The Sister who invited me said they had never had a teacher speak before.

By the way where is "preacher" listed among the five fold ministry?

The one thing I heard most about the teaching of Eckstat was his oneness teachings. I've never heard of the other two.

My thinking is that ANYONE can be a "preacher". Preaching is "proclaiming". Everyone is called to do that.

The modern thinking is a preacher is behind a pulpit. He preaches "hot sermons" and gets the people stirred. Anytime he is using scripture to inform or to educate he could as easily be called a teacher.

Im not saying preacher does not exist. Im just saying it is given far more weight than teacher and that is not the way it should be.

JT Pugh - top of the list - definitely but not just for his skill or ability. Just because it's JT. There's nobody like him ... for more than one reason.

Eddie is a teacher more than a preacher, so he never really fit into that mold. He never gets loud, but the words he delivers are powerful and anointed and life changing. I think there is room for both in the body of Christ, but it seems like preaching way overshadows teaching in OP ranks.

My dad was, in my opinion one of the greatest Bible Teachers I ever heard. In fact, he was much like Eddie in that even in his evangelistic preaching he was ALWAYS teaching! His eighth grade education never diminished but always enhanced his teaching in that he was a communicator at anyone's level.

I have sat in the room with Dad and some of the renowned UPC Bible teachers and watched him twist their tails in knots on subject matter on which they disagreed!

J.T. Pugh is superlative in any role of ministry, a prince among preachers.

One that hasn't yet been mentioned that I loved hearing was W.V. Cooling.
