Of course I was speaking for myself…
It is hard for us as humans to grasp that our trust has to be in the invisible… instead of what we see with our own eyes. We put our trust in standards to keep people over the Holy Ghost which is our guidance and power. We don’t need physical guardrails…we need the Spirit leading.
Far too long have we put our trust in the outward standards for proof that someone is living for God.. or proof that they are “holy”. In my opinion this has created a spiritually anemic church. What happened to fruits of the Spirit being evident in our lives.
I know what my first knee jerk reaction when something goes wrong in my life is to check and see what I am doing wrong, pull in the boundaries around me and try to tighten up… thinking that something I have done has brought the rough waters of life. Some things are just life and brought to us to teach us to trust him… not to fear him like someone upstairs with a big stick ready to beat us when we fail.
Sorry you didn’t see what I saw in that post… but I thought it was a great post.
And… I do live a fairly conservative lifestyle… most I believe are convictions for me… some are what I feel have been imposed by leadership…but I obey, but don’t believe they are necessary for salvation.
