Re: Bet I'm The Only One On AFF That...
I have a funny/sad story about a castle......
My great aunt was from Luxembourg. She married Uncle Stanley during WWII. She was from a rather wealthy family from Luxembourg. But after they married and moved to the USA, her family basically wrote her off. Her father had been killed in the war, leaving her mother and 2 sisters, along with Aunt Kit.
Aunt Kit and Uncle Stan were unable to have children because of injuries she received in the war. So they adopted 5 children. When one of her sons was old enough to join the Army, he did. And he was eventually stationed in Germany. He told his mother that as long as he was in the area, he wanted to make a trip to Luxembourg to at least see the castle that her family had owned. She told him how to find it and he made the trip over. So he gets there and guess what he finds --- his grandmother and his aunts are still living. And running a BROTHEL out of the castle!! Whooops!!!!

We lived in Kaiserslautern. She would LOVE it! How would she live there? Do they have some kind of exchange programs? That would be the way to go...to be able to live with a host family! Everybody was so nice when we were there years ago.

Re: Bet I'm The Only One On AFF That...
Ok, I have one for you that I KNOW no one else here has ever done. I mentioned this in another thread recently.
I'm pretty sure I am the only person here that has converted a gasoline car to a pure electric car. Took an '86 Nissan Pulsar that wouldn't pass a smog test, ripped the engine and all associated parts out of it. Dropped in an electric motor, controller and 15 6 volt batteries. Top speed was 70 mph but it really liked to cruise ay 45 mph. Range was 30 miles per charge (small battery pack and lead acid batteries).
I put 3,000 miles on it as a pure electric driving it to work every day for 2 years before I sold it.
What's my prize, Hoovie?

It would be our entire family. I had not thought about exchange... we would likely just do a 2 month rental.

Azzan, you might just win for only putting 3,000 miles on a car driving to and from work every day for 2 years. 1500 miles/year on a car is amazing!

Re: Bet I'm The Only One On AFF That...
This thread has me thinking of things I've done in my life......
....like getting a tour of Lambeau field before a game and even being allowed to enter the tunnel the players come out of.
The exact spot Bart Star made his 1-yard rush during the ice bowl.
In the tunnel looking out.
On the sidelines.
