Anyone who believes in Christ and has repented of their sins will receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues just like the disciples did in the book of Acts simply by asking God to fill them.

I don't know what to tell you about someone who is seeking to be baptized with the Spirit "for years" (cause I don't know anyone who has done that) except they shouldn't be seeking to speak with tongues but sincerely and hungrily seeking for God to fill them with his Spirit.

Bolded....over and over and over and over and over, this has been proven untrue. And if someone is unable to "speak in tongues" you are not allowed to sit back in your seat of judgment and pronounce, "Well, they didn't really repent." There have been MANY who manifested absolutely NO repentance, in fact, displayed the opposite, and spoke in tongues a blue streak.

Thank you. I will try to make it a good week. I've never lived apart from my children at such a distance, so this will be something new. But, I know God is in this, so I know everything will be fine.

I think this isn't a good way to ask the question. The question would be - Do you believe that it is an absolute necessity to receive the Holy Ghost/Spirit in order to be saved and prepared for eternity?

My answer is, Yes. Romans 8:9 says that I cannot belong to Him without His Spirit dwelling in me. If I ask the question in the manner you did, I feel I would cause a person to focus on the gift and not the Giver.

We have already determined that we can find no evidence that being filled with His Spirit is given in any other manner. It is speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

I cannot answer for the hearts of other people. I can only think of the rich young ruler who said he followed all of God's commands, but when push came to shove, he didn't want to give everything and walked away sad because he had to face his own heart.

What I can do is stand on what is written in the Word of God and not try to change that because of the experience of another. I know that God will not put new wine in an old bottle. No matter how nice and sincere someone appears to be, it is always a deep, entrenched matter of the heart and only God can know it.

I can't reject Bro. Blume's type of answer because I had the same experience. I was holding on to something that would stand between me and God. He impressed me to give that up. At least one night I came to the realization that if I didn't give that particular thing up, I would never receive His Spirit. When I did let that go, I was filled with His Spirit. I'm not going to tell you what it was, because you would laugh, but God knew my heart and knew what that meant to me. I would never have drawn close to Him with all of my heart if I had not let it go. And because of my relationship with Him today, I see why He dealt with me as He did. It had to be all or nothing for me and He knew it.

Someone talking in tongues who lives a life of garbage? You are reminding me of when we worked with the youth and this one girl would act horrible and then dance and speak in tongues at church. The youth couldn't stand it and didn't want a part of it. The thing is, she wasn't faking it. So here again, we have a situation where God knew the girl's heart and was trying to move on her to pull her closer to Him. If God is still working, who am I to stand in the way? I may not like what they are doing, but I can't throw them aside like a piece of dirty laundry. God would never do it.

And what does someone's tainted life have to do with my relationship with God? Did David stop trusting and believing in God and His Law because Saul acted like he did? No. David knew that was between God and Saul and he stepped aside and let God deal with him.

Working with people is a touchy situation. We must have the mind of God. We must hear from Him alone to see what we should do with someone. I am working with someone now that everyone told me to leave the girl alone. She would never.... But, God has stepped in and given me the burden. If she is not sincere, then I will be a fool for Christ's sake. I won't walk away until God instructs me to walk away and He has given me that instruction in the past. Her soul is hanging in the balance. I'm going to do my part to help her. I feel, in the Holy Ghost, that I am doing the right thing.

Well, it's complicated and I don't want to explain the details on-line, you understand. But, I used to be a lot of things before God drew my heart. I believed He would do the same for her. Perhaps that is why God gave me the burden.

Yes, there are things about our personalities that don't change, even with the Holy Ghost, BUT there are things that - blast it all - He will change!!! So, the people can go jump in a lake!!! God wanted her!!!! God saw past what others were looking at.
