just going back thru some of this... looks like you are right.
Ryan is going to be a major player in the house leadership. no telling what that means for the future too...
LOL...I was just prophesying. Seriously, he caught my eye a while back. He at least is saying the right things ...and he actually seems to believe and mean what he is saying.

he will have problems in the primary. there are gun control and abortion issues.
I think he would be a big time winner in the general.
but he keeps saying he is only interested in saving New Jersey.
On abortion, New Jersey is saying he is pro-life. I'm thinking that, like Laura Bush, he is pro-life, but upholds whatever law is in place.
Quote:
A statewide pro-life group in New Jersey today endorsed gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie over his rival, incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine. Citing the need to elect a pro-life governor, the New Jersey Right to Life PAC backed Christie and noted that Corzine and independent candidate Chris Daggett are both pro-abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2009/10/19/state-4512/
I would want him to elaborate on the gun control issue that I highlighted in bold. I am also against illegal guns being sold.
Quote:
Asked if there are issues on which he’s moderate or to the left, he said, “I favor some of the gun control measures we have in New Jersey” and was interrupted by Hannity shaking his head and saying, “Bad idea.”
Christie: “We have a densely populated state and there’s a big handgun problem in New Jersey. Now, I don’t support all the things that the governor supports, by a long stretch. But on certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed — we have an illegal gun problem in New Jersey.”
Hannity: “Should every citizen in your state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one?”
Christie: “In New Jersey, that’s not going to happen, Sean.”
Hannity: “Why?”
Christie: “Listen, with the Democratic Legislature that we have, there is no way those type of things –”
Hannity: “Would you support it?”
Christie: “Listen, at the end of the day, what I support are common sense laws that will allow people to protect themselves. But I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets. Very concerned. And I want to make sure that we don’t have an abundance of guns out there.” He then finally extricated himself from the issue and turned the focus back to the economy. http://blogs.app.com/capitolquickies...s-gun-control/

Paul Ryan's big plans for a small budget
The Republican victory in the House will likely make Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) the new chairman of the Budget Committee, where, at age 40, he's now his party's ranking member. From that powerful seat, Ryan plans to shape legislation that would impose strict restraints on spending, and tackle entitlement reform -- a challenge that terrifies most of his fellow Republicans.
Honestly, the time to set aside the social issues is now. The economy has to be the singular issue going into 2012. We must unite around saving America. The day for dividing over guns, abortion, gay rights, prayer in schools, etc can be postponed for another day. If the economy tanks there will be no culture to war over.

When President Obama denied that the biggest Republican victory since the 1920s was a referendum on the policies embraced by his party and his administration, he was either lying or deep in denial – and the same thing can be said about The New York Times, which opined yesterday in an utterly predictable manner that – while “Tuesday’s election was indeed a ’shellacking’ for the Democrats, as President Obama admitted after a long night of bad news” – it “was hardly an order from the American people to discard the progress of the last two years and start over again.”
