Does anyone have the energy to start a thread titled "Branson Shows and Pentecostals"

We use to live 45 minutes away from Branson and because of my job could have attended some shows free, we didn't.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

As far as reading the paper - the advertisements in itself can be very revealing. And the bad news of all the crime can be very detailed.

Your trying to justify the actions of what I do as far as restaurants and malls will not change the realities. Let's just say that I am extremely glad you will not be raising my son, and I will not be taking the risk when he is in my home. You can pretend that the things I've mentioned does not happen, but your problem lies within the realities of life that are witnessed by the folks here on AFF. I now leave you to your misguided notion that bad choices couldn't possibly happen to Apostolic kids.

WH, I say this in total honesty, and with no malice, I'm just being blunt - I am sooooooooo glad I am not your kid!
You seem to define your "holiness" by all the things you are against, and from my experience, it's a joyless existence. Just read CC1's signature line for a reference!

THIS is truth!
I know this may sound shocking but I know of so-called "in the church" youth that were found out behind the church at night doing the same things only so-called worldly kids would be doing in the park or elsewhere.
I also know of so-called "in the church" youth being caught in the backseat of a volkswagon in the church parking lot doing what only so-called worldly kids would do in the backseat. (Except worldly kids probably wouldn't be so bold as to use the church parking lot for such activities!)
While I do believe an "alternative" to the prom is a good idea, lets not be so stupid as to think that simply forbidding them to attend is going to prevent prom associated things from taking place elsewhere, under different circumstances. Sex being only one of several things...

Lady Rev,
You are so right! It has been my experience with my children that they did more 'worldly' things with church kids than they ever did associating with their friends at the public school. I won't elaborate because it isn't my story to tell.
Blessings, Rhoni

Re: Proms and Pentecostals
We homeschool and our co-op has a spring formal every year. It is christian in atmosphere and parents are welcomed by the youth. It isn't apostolic pentecostal but as stated, it is "Christian" in nature, and has a dress code.

Not really - just wondering if adults have the same convictions when it comes to their entertainment versus the kids entertainment.
