We have just started one, and are hopefully going to start another one soon. It's kind of a new concept, but it's working all over the U.S. We have other churches that are not using this concept (and probably will not ever), but I think it would help us all to have one vision and one direction. Anyway, we're excited about it!!

What I said is not very easy to reconcile, it has roots going to China...
Money. All I have to do is call the presbyter and renew my lic.I don't know though if I want to be that restricted about where I preach anymore.I like to go where the door opens.

Do you reckon oppression and repression might come from the old time process called backsliding.....

This is not an observation or a judgment......

Just a thought....
My, My you are jumping to conclusions. Never made the connection that you describe, however all the women had the same hair style and very similar shoes and clothes. They have taken it a step further than the UPC and yes forced conformity is very repressive. HH is extremely repressive.

Backsliding from what? I have never left my relationship with Jesus, further it is deeper and more significant today than ever before. Whether you want to admit it or not there has been plenty of repressiveness in some quarters of the UPC. When you focus on outward appearances as the standard of holiness you are way off base.

I don't think that KP focuses on outward appearances as the standard of holiness however I haven't been to WOP in almost 30 years so I am not the judge of that. I have been to HH just last weekend so I will speak concerning that place.

I have pondered yet longer and have one more scenario wherein I would go back to the UPC.

If I were in a terrible accident or suffered from some terrible illness that made traveling the 32 miles to Christ Church impossible then I would temporarily attend the UPC church just five miles from my home. I visited once with a UPC relative and it is a nice church. Plus I have heard good things about the pastor from an esteemed poster here at AFF.

Here is another scenario...I could return to the UPC if the church I was in announced it was leaving the UPC immediately after that service.

Sherri, Wow this is quite a concept!

Please tell me what the positives are to this approach - because the negatives seem apparent to me.

I am not downing the idea - really, but would like to know more. Would your husband ever have personal contact with these members?

Isn't this the same concept as a man pastoring a church say...in San Francisco and he flies in every week or so, yet continues to travel the U.S. evangelizing the rest of the time?

If the rapture took place and at the marriage supper of the Lamb the hall is titled UPCI!

No, silly, we have a campus pastor on site. He does the pastoral care work and some of the midweek teaching. Eddie does the Sunday vision casting and preaching. Every location still HAS to have a resident pastor. You can't get off that easy, Carp!
