Not being a pastor has nothing to do with my question. Just wanted to know where the attitude came from. Not trying to be mean, but many of us see a very negative attitude coming from the words that you speak reguarding the ministry.
You are a great guy, extremely funny and witty, but underneath all the intelligence, and wit, and humor, and knowlege is a deep seated vine of criticism and negativity directed at the ministy of church.
There is a difference is "arguing a point" and criticizing every inch of a persons personal belief system. I've noticed though, that if it comes from a pastor, especially conservative, (which I think we all need to let the lables die, who care if you're liberal or conservative, let's just have revival and win souls to God) you absolutely pick apart everything they say and try to say that they have no credibility.
My personal opnion is that you need to go to your closet of prayer and ask the Lord to show you where the vine or criticism started and ask Him to help you remove it from your life.

I never saw my dad cry so much as he did that day. Well, maybe the day his name was in the Herald stating he was no longer 'in fellowship'...*sigh*

That is too bad. As a rule, an allowance is made for men who suffer financial hardship.

Why would they help you out? That's like giving you a check to give back to them. Makes no sense!

It was a bad time, bro. They DID give him a space of time, but he suffered yet another heart attack, and was off the field for over two years. My mom worked to keep a roof over our heads...once he started preaching again, he never needed a license. All his 'friends' preached him without them. *smile*

Preachers who REQUIRE "fees" to preach are religious whores.

What you perceive as criticism ... I perceive as questions that any saint may ask ... the ministry is not beyond inspection or correction ... I respect conservatives opinions but will opine and question the flaws in their thinking and approach .... I think to be fair sister CS ...
the criticisms come from both sides of the debate .... I will defend what I think is right .... case and point when some attack the FM Director today ... I made clear that he is a man beyond reproach .... as for me picking apart someone's arguments ... that's what debate is about .......
I would agree with your assertion that we all need a prayer closet ....

That's what friends are for! Thank God for them.

I've got nothing negative to say about the UPC...some things are just the cold hard facts of life. It takes money to run the org. and everyone is expected to contribute. God was good- he did provide...
