Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

The great British preacher Charles Spurgeon once told a story about a Hindu woman who said to a missionary "Surely your Bible was written by a woman." When the missionary asked why, the woman replied "Because it says so many kind things for women....

Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

all the things we will say both pro and con have been discussed for years...The best thing is to make your calling and election sure...and not change with every wind of doctrine...
Since someone requested not to make this personal I will try to refrain from doing so...however let me say after over 40 years on the mission field I sure would not be here if it was not a heaven or hell issue. The Lord called and for me to be saved I MUST obey HIS calling...the older I get the harder it becomes for my strength is not what it used to be.
I have no desire to offend any brother that writes here so please do not think I am your enemy because you may not believe in me.
Since I think the only one I personally know that is writing on this subject that does not believe in women preachers is Elder Epley and he knows me personally and we do not agree on this subject but I consider him very highly and have deep respect for him and never in a million years would I say anything on purpose to belittle him and he knows that.
He would always be welcome in our churches and in our home and there are so many other things we agree on he certainly is man of God enough to use ethics...and by the same token I am woman of God enough that if I were to visit his church he knows me well enough to trust me to give a testimony.
I think we all can state our reasons but in the end we are all baptized into one body and RESPECT is the key word in any situation.
And for those of you that do not know me...no...I have never been ordained as a minister! I am only a voice that tells the story of Jesus to whoever and where ever....

My husband and son are ordained! Now I sure must be a paradox to many....ha....

Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

On this thread It was requested that that I give scripture to back up my stance on women preachers and though it may appear that I am picking on girls that is not my intention. The position I take has been the majority position for 2,000 years all I ask is scripture that undeniably and unequivocally over turns Paul's letters to the Corinthians and to Timothy. When we tell someone the plan of Salvation and they claim Matthew 28:19 as their Salvation plan we can take them to the Word in Acts 2:38,Mark 16:16,Acts 10,Acts 19 and many other scriptures. No one does this who advocates women preachers, they just give knee jerk reactions and touchy feely emotions but i give you the Word of God.

All of this just to confirm what I've already said about 10x's now?? The word "Speak/Lal-eh-o" equally means "preach," which is is precisely what Paul forbade women to do "when you come together". It's just unreal to me how someone cannot see this!

I have [& you even included it in your list above!] demonstrated ad nauseum that this word is also translated as "preach"....which Paul says is a "shame/disgrace,"...you know, the same word he used to condemn women who cut their hair!

Do you not fear to tamper w/ the Word of God like this? Respectfully, this is just plain silly. We've explained I Cor. 14 until we could pass out! Yous imply do not WANT to believe the biblical facts. I do not mean this disrespecfully at all......

On the foreign field especially in years gone by women missionaries out numbered the men...That is a proven fact. However those that REALLY know me know I am not pushing for women to push men aside and I sure detest speaking in front of a crowd but God does use women and they most certainly can give or share a word from the Lord.

Thank God for women in both Testaments under the severe Talmudic thinkings that rose above it all and gave the word of God at some of the most terrible times.

By saying that does not mean there were not men of God...NO woman of God would ever deminish a man of God...Gifts make room for themselves...Wise men will be alble to know when God is speaking through a woman...
You just included the definition "PREACH," then turn right around & say "the word preaching is never used"?????? I've already told you about 15x's now that this word is literally translated as "preach" 6x's!

Honestly, this is amazing.......

Sticking to the NT, there is plenty of precedent for a prophetess.
