A multitude of reasons ... if you are who I think you are ... you are well-versed in them ... and you've read my letter.

BTW, I think Grisham is an awesome man of God.

I had the opportunity to sit at a table with JTPugh and Charles Grisham once. It was a great memory and I still relish some of what I learned in that 1 hr or so.

I agree, there is a gap, but there seems to be no real response to fill it.

I remember seeing stats for Bible College enrollments after 1967 and up to 1975. There was a marked number that seemed to only be due to Vietnam. Perhaps we need a national Draft again? (I know THIS is NOT the answer and this was TIC)

Hey, Dan. Slow down a minute...

I agree (I think) about the "worth" of a UPC Bible College degree- it's nothing, essentially; except possibly CLC's where you at least get an accredited AA degree.

On the "pedigree" point though, I differ. I have UPC family contacts through my in-laws (not high contacts, and maybe not even "good" contacts) and none what-so-ever through my own family. Yet as a young preacher wannabe (and still single at the time) I interviewed at World Evangelism Center and got a job with no pedigree at all.

That was a long time ago, but one of the other young men who applied for the same position was directly related to one of the highest officials. That may even have counted against him- I don't know. But I was a relative new convert with no pedigree and they took me in and accepted me as one of their own. I could still be working there today if I had wanted to stay, and I'm a nobody.

I wrestle with Felicity's apparent notion that God somehow manages to get His choice "to rise," because seeing God at all in our elections, campaigns and furious letter writing is hard to do. Yet, the system isn't just "pedigree" and "posturing" only.

Perhaps it's a mathematically chaotic system, at least it should be. But you are correct in that there is also too much "pedigree and posturing" [my words, not yours] at times. What if a Bible College degree - a good one - really meant something in our movement?

My compaint - clean up the "I'm holier than thou..." antagonisms that stir up so much division and make good men act in bad ways. This is the root of much of our evil.

How can the organization attract young ministers? Is there anything that can be done to reverse the trend?

Those who dislike Dan just being Dan will just discount it as being bitter ... so I leave it at your feet .... to educate the simple masses.

He's an awesome preacher!!! I don't remember if he put off getting the license when the trouble all started. I think some men told him to wait. We try not to talk about it too much.

A black work wanted him to come and preach for them and teach about the Godhead. His pastor told him no. When they pulled out - the first place they went - the black church.

The whole church was re-baptized in the name of Jesus! When they came to visit they brought the DVD for us to watch. Very awesome!

There's just some things you can't stop. You can't put shackles on people feet when God wants something done!
