It is deeper than that. One of the primary roots is "to breathe, to be, (in the sense of existence.)

That is huge and, IMO, solidifies "abomination" further in the passage.

I just remember reading something like this on another thread - don't know how to find it, but that's what they were saying too.

That's true, to be an abomination would be "to be".....how can that be argued? We certainly know just wearing pants in no way makes you "to be" a man.

It's almost ironic that what it really means is so polar opposite of making a woman a w*****.

Very true. When we teach the principles of Christianity and our responsibility as women - modesty, behaviour, etc., it is more settling and you don't walk around confused.

Like I said, if we want to preach against pants - fine - preach against tight skirts too. I know that pants are generally tighter to begin with, but you can't make a doctrine out of Deut to support this issue. It's not right and frankly, modesty just covers it - handily!

Once I was in a conference sitting b my son and the preacher went on and on about women preachers. I do not mean he was he taking the Bible and trying to prove his point he said lots of unkind things. My son (Michael)whispered and said, lets get out of here mother. I shook my head no....and we sat through it all.
I did not know the preacher so he was not taking his sermon on me but trying to impress a certain group of preachers to get revivals! ( been around a long time) ha..
After the service was over maybe 20 or so preachers met me as I walked out of the building and told me they were sorry for such statements that were said in my presence and the most of them did not really believe in women preachers but respect me as a life long missionary and went on to tell me that preacher would never preach in their pulpits.
I told them all was well and please do not hold his lack of respect against him for he was young in the ministry...years later that same man pastored a church and had me to come and speak at a missions service!
We must be very careful what we say our words can cause lasting damage.
The greatest teacher of all taught us to love and even if we are different we can love! It is true we must hate what God hates and love what He loves but we must be careful and KNOW FOR sure what He hates...I have met a few people that fit into that group but that does not mean God haates someone we don´t like or agree with.

There are some people that have come to Brazil that have said and done such offensive things I really hope they don´t come back...others have been such a tremendous blessing...

It is true we must hate what God hates and love what He loves but we must be careful and KNOW FOR sure what He hates...I have met a few people that fit into that group but that does not mean God haates someone we don´t like or agree with.

Amen and amen. For the 2nd greatest commandment is to love your neighbor! And it is amazing how THAT foundation causes so much other things to fall into place..... but it is so rarely preached because it is, to be quite honest, very hard to do. There is no instant gratification! It is relatively EASY to get rid of a TV or change your wardrobe, or shave a beard and feel "saved" but much much harder to love your jerk of a next-door neighbor. -Which is the ONE thing that God commands us to do (after loving Him of course, and even THAT is done via way of the 2nd commandment). After all, how much more has God forgiven US for? How much more has He loved us when we don't deserve any?

I have seen many on these boards (this and all the others) who come across as pious (they would never call themselves that), judgemental (they would never call themselves that), and a "contender of the faith" (they WOULD call themselves that) yet don't know what it is like to be a Christian.
Some are almost like the devote Catholic school nuns.... Well versus and faithful catholics but as mean as they come and unaware of what it means to be a Christian.
