Statement on Arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding the arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis:

“Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.

“I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion.

“In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Court’s marriage opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Court’s opinion was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.

“For every politician — Democrat and Republican — who is tut-tutting that Davis must resign, they are defending a hypocritical standard. Where is the call for the mayor of San Francisco to resign for creating a sanctuary city — resulting in the murder of American citizens by criminal illegal aliens welcomed by his lawlessness?

“Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?

“When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.

“Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in public office, they must disregard their religious faith–or be sent to jail.

“Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.

“I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now.”

I guess I didn't. It is well written.

I don't disagree with your assessment that people leave his meetings ready to fast, pray and expect things to happen. I haven't been in attendance with him in a very long time, but that is how I felt, even though not agreeing with everything he was saying.

Even when at times it seems to no avail, then we just have to keep Pressing On.

Remember meetings when you were growing up? Powerful things you have seen? which no one can refute! Jesus is still the same God who was in control then, as He is now. This isn't Jesus' first rodeo, and He is waiting to show Himself strong for someone who believes Him and His word.

I don't have to pray for homosexual activists to have issues with their hind quarters. Enough said about that.

We need to forgive, and pray for this place where we live because this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I haven't heard anything yet.

I think it is important to note that Ted Cruz is campaigning on fighting for religious liberty in our country.

Here is the video of the Rally for Religious Liberty in Des Moines just recently. He interviews people who have been persecuted for their faith. It is lengthy, but it is very good. I think that Steve Deace does the interviewing. That begins about the 1:10 marker. At the 2:05 marker, Cruz interviews Pastor Saeed Abedini's wife.

Good article!

Kim Davis Uproar Shows That Breaking The Law Is Only Okay When Progressives Do It

Davis’s arrest was met with cheers by same-sex marriage advocates who for some reason did not demand imprisonment of officials who lawlessly issued gay marriage licenses in clear contravention of state and federal laws.

Read a headline that despite Kim Davis refusing to authorize her deputies to sign marriage licenses, somehow tomorrow morning they will be issuing marriage licenses.

Of course the pro-ssm lobby is claiming the fact 4 of the 5 deputies said they would issue licenses shows that Davis terrorized them as well.

I've been supportive of Davis, and still am, but if I were in her position, I would resign. I'd be deeply disappointed that my staff didn't have my back and support me through this. No need to continue working with staff who won't stand up for you. Even if they disagree with her, they should still stand with her.

Re: Kim Davis

This is the same thing that happened to the Jews. If a Christian has to resign or is expected to resign because of their religious beliefs, we will be driven out of business like the Jews.

Just like Eric Erickson has said, "You will be made to care. "

Those deputies need to hang their heads, how weak.

Kim Davis went the distance, and those she worked with kowtowed to the powers that be.

That's their plan.

Make it so unbearable for us that we either bow or leave.

Unless, we have a change in leadership.

I don't fault her co-workers for bowing out. It is a scary thing to be at the hands of progressives with no powerful support or your own money to fight. They will push until you lose everything, hoping you will also take your life.

Re: Kim Davis

Back in my Beverly Hills days, my dad, a gentile, ran a business with a Jew, Jack Colker. Dad would work on Saturday for Jack, who would attend temple. Sunday, Jack would work for dad, so he could have Sunday off.

No legal problems. No cultural intimidation or religious restrictions. Lots of cooperation and mutual respect.
