My visit to a Messianic service yesterday

The messianic music I have heard sounds like what it is - a modern americanized version of 19th century yiddish music (which is definitely european).

The stuff ancient hebrews heard would have sounded more like coptic, syrian, arabic, or byzantine chant, or what is styled "old roman" or "gallican" chant.

20th century Jewish music is primarily eastern european (slavic) folk music, or mozarabic/flamenco style music (sephardi music).

Then there's klezmer lol.

Whiny is the word that comes to me when I here that stuff. Makes me think of some dirty pot smoking hippie that's on a bad drug trip.

Other than that it's probably ok.

ok there is no such thing as a bad trip on pot, i'm pretty sure.
i have some what i consider "Sabbath music" from a Greek guy i met...and ya, the Lamentation aspect is fairly prevalent, lol. But i think this should be understood in the context of the very different music we are raised on.

Tell me what you think of the song video I just posted. It does not sound "whiney" to me at all, but is pretty powerful, and is by a very talented Messianic singer, Paul Wilbur.

Just stating my own opinion here. Its very hard to try to listen to "Apostolic" music when you have experienced Messianic and really "Charismatic" also.

I was a pot smoking Hippie. Believe me there was NOTHING like this among us.
