The Bible actually has them as separate and independent items...
I'm sorry that you find my broader interpretation of witchcraft to be
disturbing, but as a person who has used the power in question,
I assure you that it is the more correct definition of the two.
Ah, my understanding is that they were Biblically related; and still is? Though you just might be right!
"Disturbing" wouldn't be as accurate here as "inadequate," I don't think, and, please take this the right way, but coming from a person who has abandoned the power in question, I'll continue to define "witchcraft" absent the pointless lie "Bewitched" presents me as a def, at least until I'm persuaded otherwise, which I'll freely admit is possible here, as I'm not knowledgeable in this area.
Thanks. That helps a little. Still, if God wanted my brother to die for some higher purpose, that doesn't inspire my love or allegiance. Should it?
And miracles are not proof of God's existence. They aren't really proof of anything, considering that it's not possible to know for sure if something was a miracle. How amazing does it have to be? Rods turning into snakes? Nope. Pharaoh's magicians did that. One magic snake devouring other magic snakes? Well, why couldn't the story have included yet another round of magic smackdowns? Why should the last one mentioned be proof that it really was God? It's arbitrary.
I stand corrected. I'm not sure if you are just saying an example or if your brother did indeed die, but if he did I am sure sorry about that. I don't care to comment any further, as (by my own fault) this has branched past witchcraft.

He did, ten years ago at age 51.
(Doh! Had to edit twice before I finally got his age right! )

Timmy, I hate to disagree with you, but you are mistaken about Flute's definition of witchcraft not being applicable to the Christian life.
There are many places where witches of various forms (shamans, witch doctors, voodoo priests, medicine men/women, Satanists, and various other occultic practitioners) hate Christianity and will invoke spiritual powers in an attempt to injure, maim, kill, or in other ways harm believers. The basic keys is to know that the God that you serve is greater than the powers that they serve and call upon. I have yet to hear of a strong and dedicated Christian overcome by the power of a witch.

Not that you shouldn't disagree with me (on general principles, if nothing else! ), but, what are you talking about?

Thank you. It was ten years ago last Thursday. It still hurts.
If you ever want to talk, free of any kind of debate, send me a private message. I may not be the smartest man on the planet, but I've got a shoulder. Well...an empty text space anyway.
