I still think it's sad. Because IF conference really is about raising all this money - that's got to break God's heart. I always thought it was about sharing the Gospel, rejoicing with fellow believers and spending time in the presence of the Lord. But then again, I was never privileged to go to a conference, so I probably have been wrong all along.
Renda, I don't want you to think that I'm arguing with you. I have the highest respect for you.

You can argue with me, but I don't feel that you are.
It's not ALL that conference is about, but yes - they are there to raise money, make money (selling books), being with fellow believers, taking care of business, having church, etc.

Don't understand what the big deal is with you guys.

So it's no big deal to you to auction off personal clothing items of significant talking religious heads of the past? While you don't see what the big deal is with "you guys", I suppose I don't understand why it isn't a big deal to you. I guarantee you a very large part of that audience was insulted by it. In the days to come that statement will be proven. And just because it's "Their gig" doesn't mean they have the right to treat people the way they do.

well, if it's ladies' underwear remember the scriptural prohibition on it being bifurcated.

Sis. Agnew painted a picture every year while she was able to and it was "auctioned" off for Harvest Time each GC. It was a way to raise money.
I doubt many had a second thought about it.
Is it the auctioning to raise money that you object to or that it's personal clothing items of significant talking religious heads of the past?

She painted a picture for a purpose. The picture fulfilled its purpose. Can the same be said for those shoes? But honestly, any kind of auction in a church service brings back the "Moneychanger" environment.

You have Wall Street confused with the Church. They do ebay and craigs list in home churches. You don't whine about them.

Don't mean to be rude, but this doesn't make any sense.

Re: Your thoughts on the Shoe Auction @ Conferenc
I was there, it happened. I knew if Bro. Barnes was there he would not approve of his shoes being auctioned. I would love to have been able to have them, because I respect his ministry. I believe he was a prophet of God.
The goal was to raise money for Home Missions that is greatly needed.
So I hope no one that has a bake sale auction is offended by someone spending 500.00 for a cake some special sister baked.

If Falla insists I'm going to ask her how long she will continue to support the US war machine that's has killed tens of thousands of innocents with her taxes.
I would like to see such financial transparency from HMD so we know how much of what was raised really gets in the hands of the unchurched and the home missionary.
Very easy to spend other people's hard earned $$$

You forgot to mention that you are also supporting them with YOUR taxes. That is not something you really have a choice in. The next best thing is vote out the party you disagree with.
