Interesting...
I have been a youth director for many years and at 44 years old I'm still a youth director. What I see is a problem with our GIRLS in the church more so than the boys.
Our world has "unisexed" everything to where even the most feminine girl is expected to participate in and/or at least enjoy sports.
Even the most feminine girl is criticized and laughed at if she wants to get all dressed up for just about anything other than prom or a wedding!
Girls that only hang with other girls and never want to hang with the boys (even at younger pre-teen ages) are thought to be weird and no fun.
Girls are expected, challenged and even dared to try to be just like the boys whether they have any interest in the activity/event or not.
Myself, I've always been a tom-boy type but I also have some female friends that have no tom-boy type interests whatsoever. Thats their right and their business and I respect that. But our world says differently. Our world is trying to make girls and boys to be the same in much more than just clothing. They are trying to make them think, act, have interest in all the same things, etc., whether they want to or not.
The church isn't much different. The leaders are primarily men with few exceptions like little kids sunday school. Some churches even have men over their ladies ministries! Bible lessons are mostly about men. He-man messages are preached even if the story may happen to include Esther! Activities are geared towards men. Girls either participate in what generally interests guys more so than girls or they sit on the sidelines bored. Guest speakers are dominantly men even when the group being spoken to is 80% female and eligible female speakers are available.
And now someone wants to say our songs are too feminine? Give me a break!
If anything is happening in our world AND in the church its the girls being made to feel that they must be MORE MASCULINE!
No wonder young girls hate the church, rebel and leave soon as they turn 18 (if not sooner!). They are given a list of do's and don'ts, are expected to participate in and enjoy everything the guys enjoy while making sure they don't violate their list of rules or their only other option is to sit around bored.
Give me a break! There needs to be BOTH male and female leadership in the church (and I don't mean just cooking, cleaning and nursery duty for the females!) to keep things BALANCED and NORMAL!
The world certainly isn't worried about BALANCE or NORMAL.
God said it wasn't good for man to be ALONE and He created woman! There are many reasons for this besides reproduction! Its called BALANCE!
God said one is not without the other. God said we are JOINT heirs TOGETHER...
Feminized churches? Maybe a few...but the OPPOSITE is by far the majority based on my observations.
I personally hate ladies meetings that consist of nothing more than a weak mamby pamby prayer, a few announcements, some discussion of funds needed, scheduling workers for church cleaning, nursery duty, etc., maybe a scripture reading, another prayer and then we are done. WOOOOHOOOOO big whoopie do! We had a ladies meeting! Isn't this exciting? NOT! No wonder our girls don't want to come! No wonder they easily fall into the unisex plans of the world. Afterall, even just watching the guys play football is more exciting than this!
I could say more but I've said enough. Climbin off my soapbox.
