My guess is that he had advisors that instructed him on Japanese/Emp. etiquette. I think you're right, though - it probably looks exaggerated because of his height. What's the deal w/ the Saudi king??"

Jesus told the disciples to respect the Pharisee's authority because they sit in the seat of Moses. Jesus and Paul both were for offering respect for authority and those who held it.
Respecting them, as he called them snakes, vipers and full of dead bones in the next breath.
Aquila, from a Christian standpoint, I don't much care for gun blazing, chest-pounding antics. From a civic perspective (my membership as a citizen of this world), I think it is important that certain policy be "tough" so as to maintain the status as the leader of the free world. Make no mistake about it, America has no choice. Anything less, will turn into defeat. Once you get this high, you can't say "maybe we can just be like France." It's too late. The only way backward is a giant crashing and falling.
This is why I was so invested in the Pacifism debate, and am still considering that. There is a dichotomy between one's views as a Christian and his views as a citizen of a democratic nation.

Maybe we are blinded by our own arrogance.
Please speak for yourself. You couldn't be referring to me and most other true Americans and this Great country we live in. Check to see what America has done for almost every other country when they were in time of diaster. Arrogant is a word that very well describes your beloved president.

Ok.
As if it hasn't been discussed at great lengths and even joked about-- you know, the whole "ugly American" that goes abroad and shows their butt.
Ok.
As if former President Bush, VP Cheney and Rumsfield were not perceived in as arrogant in word and action, by the international community.
The current President is trying to perform damage control.
Now this is where someone chimes in with some stupid remark close to, "Damage control? He's destroying America!!!"
Because evey Conservative knows that President Obama hates the USA!
That is, every Conservative except this one.

Jermyn I don't think you know what a Conservative is, because OB is anything but conservative, and you seem to think he is great.
America doesn't need damage control, thank you very much. I do not believe America is arrogrant, but those that are saying we are seem to have the problem if you ask me.
America gives more to poor countries than any other. We are the first to respond when disasters happen. Do you consider that to be arrogrant?
I think it is time we stopped giving our money and let them survive with their own goofy laws. They want to be a socialist nation, they reap the harvest and don't look to America.
I am extremely tired of so called Americans feeling we need to apologize to the world for something we haven't done. We are arrogrant because we don't bow to their every wish!
