That's right. I believe we should be consistent and I try my best to be consistent. I don't look at it as just a bunch of rules, but principle that we should live by. I want to please the Lord. I want to live for Him with all my heart, mind, strength and soul.

I remember my Daddy talking to a fellow minister once who preached against wearing gold...and pointing out the inconsistency at hand, with a very nice [silver or silver-looking] Rolex on his [the other guy's] wrist.

I am afraid we have too much of a one sided veiw...and the church as a whole is so far removed from the early church...

That's why I don't wear a watch. I don't believe it a sin to wear a plain watch, but I want to be consistent.

I have not worn a watch in many years...but at the same time I don't stand around watching who has one and who does not have one.

This is important...I respect those who live differently than I do...(well, I have a hard time with the unshaved legs...) ...but I dislike it when folks judge my spirituality based on whether or not I keep the same dress standard they do. I feel uncomfortable around folks who I know are looking, and judging me based on something as simple as a watch or a button or a sleeve length. I have no doubt I would feel very comfortable in your presence, Sis. Alvear.

Of course, to a point, I can understand...but we all have differing views of what constitutes modesty and holiness and righteousness, and I think brotherly love ought to come into play somewhere.

I remember the First time I visited a new families home in Virginia.

They had been UPC before marriage.

There house was new, huge and very nice furnishings.

They also lived in another city other than the churches city *gasp* I thought.

I with my UPC attitude, I thought they were carnal.

Why???
