You handle it your way. I'll handle it mine.

I would have left and never come back. Period. End of story. Adios. C-ya... wudd'n wanna be ya.

I REFUSE to 'sit under' a man like that and I refuse to subject my family to that type of attack, week in and week out. I can handle a lot of things I don't agree with, but that's not one of them. I would NEVER be able to bring ANYONE there after that for fear he'd lay into them the same way. It's not WISE to stay there and I don't think for one second God would have a problem with me leaving.

I wouldn't 'quit church' or 'quit God'. I would have simply quit that church.

It's not error if you dig deeper and try to understand the Hebrew mind that wrote it... there's no conflict with our "one God" beliefs... they believed it even more strongly than we do.

Yes, but what if he was taught these things and had someone more gentle take him aside and say, "Now...."

I know the man that made the statement and I know he is going to learn the hard way, but he will learn it. I have that much confidence.

On my thread you get a glimpse of our people from different areas of Brazil sometimes thousands of miles apart. I refuse to "Americanize" our people or brainwash them. I teach our ladies to be modest and that is what the Bible says. If they ask me if I have a preferance I tell them if not I don´t say anything. before judging me please look at our saints...pictures tell the story. I know a lot of preachers that spit it out in other people´s pulpits but it is to only impress someone else...Preach what you live and live what you preach. (that has always been my motto)
I have seen my pastor change on some things. He is a wise man. I respect his opinions. There is nothing wrong with all of a sudden you see you were wrong about something. We have all said stupid things...Once someone told me I should not go to the doctor...I said, preach it while you are young but when you get old you may have another message...some people preach themselves into hell.
I am not saying cover up and take up for wrong anyone that knows me knows that is not true.

Let our walking out get him thinking... and let someone else tell him...

Or let him deride us as we walk out, it makes no difference to me.

He does not belong in that position if he's so spiritually immature that he lambasts people and calls them filthy names from the pulpit. I refuse to give any legitimacy to his 'rule' by contiuning to stay there after he revealed himself to be so spiritually immature.

He's what Paul called "a novice" (I don't care if he's 70 years old, he's a novice) and warned against setting up a novice in that type of position.

Good post, again, Sister Alvear!!! Thanks for the input.

In the case of CS and his wife, I can see what you are saying, BUT what about how the minister threw the comment out at PO's church to a completely innocent new convert? She doesn't have a clue that wearing pants makes her a w**** in some eyes.

What he said was, "A girl started wearing dresses because she didn't want to look like a ***** (courtesy of Malvaro) wearing pants." Something to that effect.

BUT, the intent of the post was on the definition of "wear" and not really what the man said.

I want to know what I am preaching and if I'm right. If I'm wrong I want to own up to it.

It is ludicrous, IMO, to say that a woman is going to be gay if she wears pants. I used to wear really tight pants. As a matter of fact I had to lay on the bed to get them zipped. I know I wasn't wanting to be gay.

Did I wear them to attract men? Not really. Not all the time anyway. That was the choice the retail market had to offer and I looked good in them. That's the decision the world is making. Do they fit right? They aren't thinking of sex every time they buy a pair of pants.

I wasn't talking about that situation... I was talking about CS' situation.

I don't know what I would have done... but I probably still would have left, because how many friends do I have that dress the way he'd approve of? Uh.... one? Maybe... two?

So if I ever planned on inviting anyone of my friends there, I'd be forced to bolt. Why? Because I would not subject them to the same trashy treatment.

I will not stay somewhere I don't feel comfortable inviting someone else...

That was the sad part and is "skinning the fish" before it is in the boat - which - we preach -- all the live long day - not to do!
