So do you support sodomite bishops, too? Or are you inconsistently stuck with a first century mindset on that subject?

Really? You don't "see" the difference: or do you just refuse
to read posts that contradict your beliefs?

Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?
Paul talked about it in First Corinthians, saying it was a rather important gift. And he did not prohibit women from using that gift in the church. It was important. It was a "vocal" gift. It was to be used in a church service.
If it is the same gift mentioned in Acts, we have an idea what the gift was.
If a woman can prophesy, she can also teach. I do not know how one could be right and the other wrong. Or how one can be "usurping" and the other not.
If a woman cannot teach in a church, if it is really a total ban or prohibition, then only men should teach Sunday School.

Paul makes it clear in 1 Corinthians what prophecy is for:
1.) Edification
2.) Exhortation
3.) Comfort
(See 1 Corinthians 14:3)
A woman blessed with the gift of prophecy would, like any man so blessed, be supernaturally endowed with the ability to edify, exhort, and comfort the hearers.
Nothing of these three things has anything to do with Bible indoctrination. That's the difference. A man may be edified, exhorted, or comforted by a woman through prophecy, but he's not being told what to believe and embrace as accurate doctrinal truth, thus meaning no usurpation of his authority as a man is occurring.
Additionally, this type of prophesying is through charismatic activity, which usually is, if not even always sporadic, spontaneous, and short lived. A woman preaching a sermon or teaching an in depth lesson or series is not under the activity of charismatic expression. Rather, it's under the activity of the official ministry of the eldership of a local church, and this, apart from the aged women preaching to and teaching the younger women, is disallowed by Paul, in the verses of which I am sure we are all familiar.

Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?
Ladies were permitted to prophesy as long as they covered their heads. I personally believe the head covering was not the hair in this scripture, but it was a veil. It demonstrated them staying under their headship(husband) when publicly praying and prophesying. Women were allowed to operate in the gifts, but not in church offices that placed them over the men especially that of their own husbands.

A teacher puts themselves in a place of superiority over their pupils. Pastors or elders are to be teachers. A woman who teaches over men in the church is placed in a position over the men of whom she is teaching. I feel like a lady can teach, but not in an official capacity over the men in the church. Ladies specifically should focus on being a teacher to other ladies and not officiating in a assembly where all the congregation gather, both men and women.
We are called to be soul winners and to lead others to Christ. We will all be used in the gifts. Although, we should all be respectful of the order of creation, out of a respect for the creator. In the resurrection there will be no male nor female, but we will all be as the angels. I can't wait until that day!!!!!!!

Amen. Women can take part in body ministry if they cover their heads. We should not assume this means when its time for Church she can chose to suddenly grow out long hair. Body ministry? Yes! Eldership? No!
