Re: Is there going to be a rapture????
ok, well, that's a possible definition. In the context of "Understand I AM," tho, 'eternal' might mean something subtly different than that. We use 'eternal' to mean 'forever,' chiefly as in 'eternal suffering,' when it may mean 'eternally occurring in the same manner,' for instance. This would accept "take no thought for the morrow" into consideration. I don't mean that "forever without end" might not be true in cases, but that it puts possibly the wrong image in our minds in general. "Eternal _________," (joy, suffering, whatever) might be more accurately described then as always occurring in the moment, in those particular circumstances.

Re: Is there going to be a rapture????
By this you demonstrate the nature of our understanding
in life it is often yes and/or no...it is that the premise we mentally begin with is flawed, naive, and so what proceeds from that is verbally true without being functionally correct, in that we perceive one being tormented in hell forever, when a fuller understanding might interpret that as long as one resists God, they will be in torment; eternally so. ya that helped

Re: Is there going to be a rapture????
there is no denying that something occurs in...Thess II? is it? But imo this should be considered in the context of prepared bride.

Brother, this is not a QUIZ, just a poll. Are you uncertain about an eternal hell?

The unsaved will be destroyed over time in the lake of fire. They will not have immortality.

I must disagree. What does "eternal" judgment imply if not everlasting punishment? Please expound upon why you think that after an unspecified period of time, the soul that has been cast into the lake of fire will cease to exist (that is, be consumed by the heat of the flames). Where in the writings of the scriptures is it stated that which you proclaim? Thanks!

That will take another thread. Don't worry you will find FAR MORE scripture for annihilation than what you believe.

Re: Is there going to be a rapture????
Lafon, i think it is just possibly that we have a definition of eternal that forces "forever, without end," when it may mean more like "set in stone; eternally recurring."
