It's CHEAP to live in Tennessee, at least compared to California, New York, etc. We got our house, which was only 3 years old, for about $60/square foot and it's brick on a nice lot in the city limits. Can't buy that in California!!!

That's cool, but it is not far enough south. The southern states I am interested in is: Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, etc.

Are IT jobs there though? What are the homeschooling laws?

This is going to sound prejudiced, but, the only thing that I did not like about TN, when I visited, is the huge number of Mexicans. Maybe they were just heavy because of the orchards where my sister lives, but the area seemed to be overflowing with people that could not speak English. I am all for people coming here to earn a living, but at least learn the language. And this is coming from someone that can speak Spanish.

Well, of course, they're visitors and they want some culture.

There are quite a few Mexicans in certain areas, but all of them that I've met are very sweet. We've had a few at church, but we don't offer a Spanish speaking service, so most don't stay around too long. Eventually I would love to have a service for them though.
