Our movement is filled w/ hundreds who believe they are not saved because they have not spoken in tongues after weeks ... months ... years of seeking ....
they go through marathon sessions with folks yelling and coaching them in their ears ... while patting them on the back ... giving them hound dog eyes and a wince ....i
f they don't receive it that night ... and must go home thinking they will be lost for eternity until it happens ... or worse .. they feel rejected and despondent and turn to sin once again ...

Dan..
The truth is the UPC abandoned you and you have abandoned them.. when in fact there was probaly fault on both sides...
all you can see when you talk about the UPC is your bitterness against it..
I'm not faulting you for what may have happened... all I'm saying is your bitterness against the UPC often comes out...

1. I believe that baptism is properly administered in Jesus name ... it is not the incantation of the name that saves us but it speaks to the authority and power given to those who call upon his name.
I know that my PAJC brethren have slew of beliefs on this issue ... such as the the blood is applied only at the mention of the name by the baptizer ...
2. We receive God's spirit at repentance ... it is what being born of God or regenerated means ... the baptism of the Holy Ghost ... being immersed in God's Spirit ...which can be evidenced by speaking in other tongues .... is not a hurdle to attaining salvation but a gift from God .... I reject the tongues or hell doctrine.

The truth is that if the UPC was not soooooooooo against the tv thing that most of these men and women would not have left. Because they left they are suddenly written off as following another doctrine. The truth is that most that left the UPC and are on TBN still believe the same things. They may not follow a dress code, but everything else is still intact.

I disagree with you, unless of course they never believed Apostolic doctrine to begin with.
If I believe that it takes Jesus name Baptism, and the infilling of the holy ghost to make it, and then I go on TBN and lead sinners in a "sinners prayer", and then tell them they are saved, do I really believe what I used to??

Wrong Buckwheat. There is a big movement within the SBC that is embrasing the baptism of the Spirit. They currently believe that tongues are to be used only in private. But none-the-less they are gaining momentum.

Wrong again. We've had these discussions countless times .... actually Elder Epley almost left the forum when the topic of Jesus name baptism came up several weeks ago ... he did not like my response or that of another poster.

Have you seen this happen? Or are you going on others word? I watch TBN all the time and esspecially when any of the "ex's" are on there. I have seen them lead in the sinners prayer, for repentance. I have never seen them or heard them say now you are saved.
