That isn't what the Word says. It says that she can't pray or prophesy uncovered. Do you make concessions for women who wear hats, veils or other head coverings? The passage seems to make such a concession.

For the rest of you back on FCF we discussed this subject nearly without end. Newman was the best y'all had and Sabellius shreded her. He point by point rebuttled her until she went into hiding. You guys couldn't even hold her notebook. She was very smart but wrong. I am not going to rehash all the same stuff over and over. I just couldn't let this pass without commenting.

Now, now, no need to be condescending. (But I agree--I wish Newman still posted. She's brilliant.) I wish she hadn't felt the need to *go into hiding.* Alas, that's a result of the GOBC which is threatened by anyone sharing an opinion that opposes the status quo--or even asking intelligent questions.
We've lost a lot of great debaters. It's a shame. I like intelligent discussion. I agree that a lot of the present discussions barely scratch the surface. I doubt it has to do with a lack of collective intelligence, and more likely that it seems like it isn't worth the effort anymore to do a lot of research and digging on any given subject. I don't even have the motivation to discuss politics to any great depth, let alone standards or doctrine.

I am NOT going to attempt to answer this question. However if a saint transgresses the Word of God and does not repent they will not be saved. Grace does not take care of unrepented sins.

You're the best Steve-a-rino. And, way to uphold AFF's policies of showing respect.

Bro. Epley doesn't believe the first part of your post, either. Only the latter part....

Newman was a brilliant lady both in the secular and in new studies of the Bible. She was wrong but brilliant. I did respect her. But Sabellius dismantled her theology point by point since he was so efficient in the Greek she was trying to use. He covered her up with sources. I do not mean to be arrogant nor rude this is just how it is on this subject. Many on the forum now were not there to see those real discussions. Again I refuted the magic hair teaching both on forums and in the pulpit.
Thanks for you kindness.

And you thought his remarks and others were fine and not condescending? That only applies to conservatives. Just like always.

You've gotta guess, Bro. And keep up with whatever new stuff comes out of a camp meeting or conference. Steve knows it's a losing argument for him to try and really push that stuff out in the open where it can be questioned, so he has to be coy and even sort of "cute" with his responses. I love that guy.
Thankfully, the "Mothership" has begun to see the error of its ways (at least in part) and has (sort of) stopped adding new stuff at the rate they did in the 1950s and 1960s - though they have had to add some wacky stuff (Holy Magic Hair) to help bolster at least one of the things that they have no Scriptural support for.
Better to simply put one's faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus saves, and NOT the works we do ( Titus 3:4-7). We now become HIS "works" ( Ephesians 2:10).

Funny that Paul could give a one sentence answer to the Philippian Jailer...

I wouldn't have an opinion on the first, that is between an individual and God;
which I think speaks to the second, a bunch of death centered finger-pointers, imo.
But glad? No, I just point out that "real estate shrinking," or however you want to put it, is a sign from God.
Mr. Epley is entitled to his interpretation, and I respect him and any who might follow him-
-until they decide to practice Law on others, which, let's admit, is their MO.
