Yeah, but sometimes the communication is what starts fights. Thank God fb was the place to settle this one! I agree with your statement though...and I understand totally what you are saying. We should not use fb to start wars! Amen.

Re: An abuse of authority????
Interesting thread. My support would have been [mostly] for the pastor, since I think he was perfectly within his rights to make a comment to his saints about being careful what they put on their fb pages. It was unwise to use specific examples that could be easily decoded and pinned to a certain individual, but it wasn't *wrong* or an abuse of authority. I'm glad they've worked it out.
My POV: the pastor should have contacted the individual directly and privately and expressed his concerns, especially in regard to what sort of example the Christian was being to his friends on fb. Actually, since he's not that person's pastor, it might have been better for him to take his concerns to that individual's pastor and let the other pastor offer correction.
I've also found that some people are confused about how fb works--they think if they see something that one of their friends has posted on their news feed that others see those posts when they visit their wall. The pastor may have thought that he *had* to say something because he wrongly assumed that the "Christian's" post was visible to other people who visited his page.
I can easily see my pastor saying something similar at Wednesday night Bible study; I doubt he would ever post anything publicly on fb, but if he did, he would leave off telltale specifics.

Re: An abuse of authority????
In my opinion -
the pastor saw something that he thinks is problematic..... professing Christians, who talk publicly on fb about their Christianity, also cursing and talking about clubbing. He decides to mention that he feels this is not a good thing. Which was perfectly fine, although probably a better venue would have been church.
The original poster was WAY off base in their response and apparently has major issues. IMO.
