As he said, it works both ways...I don't think the elder was as moderate in some areas as he is now.
About the only thing moderate he has done is "advertise" on the internet and allow screens in his church. That's about it.

The letter I received last week seem to indicate an against presentation also. The tally will be taken back to the General Board (Fall?) and the resolution accepts all 2008 dates as dual-district attended events if accepted. So no calendar conflicts until 2009.

In regard to the "against presentation" I think there needs to be one...even if I disagree with it. I think it is important, when an issue is brought before a committee (or ministers) to vote on, that a pro and con side be addressed. I have heard what some of the arguments are for the against side....which is another topic for another day.

It is my understanding that there are pre-committed meetings for the Western District (as is) on the calendar for the 2008 calendar year (that came before the announcement of the formation of a new districct). Whereas the Southern California District will be in place....there will be joint-district meetings in 2008.

Correct.

The issue RM had was that per Full District Mandate they moved the District Office this last year. They took a loan to do so, and disrupted careers to hire staff. Now with a 37% decrease, the cuts will be deep.

The divide will still leave the 4th Largest District in number of churches and ministers. I can say I have not heard of a mass exodus after the voting. **** may know more of this.

i think the mass exodus is in expectation that that res6 will past in Tampa.

I dont know that I believe it will pass. I do believe that many UCs will leave the UPCI if it does.

Of course, this is how I see it from here...what is the view from out there?!
Would you mind giving some initials?

The cuts may be deep....but should be able to fund district activities with less. You are cutting budget and at the same time...cutting some overhead. The district will be that much less and should be able to operate.

Divide is a wrong word. There is a FORMATION of a new district. One thing I have not heard is a MASS EXODUS. What would the exodus be a result of? New DS?

I would add video taping services/weddings, golf and colored shirts for ministry to the list...remember I knew the elder back in the day when all of that was unheard for Saints.

Well, in a staff of five with debt to begin with, the only solution it seems is staff. Not a pleasant thought, as some were hired only last year with the move. I understand Gospel Tidings will be sacrificed too.

At this time, I think divide is the correct word. Needing to happen, but not this year.

Ferd, the jury is out on a mass exodus. I have read those in favor now saying no, and some against thinking it over. It will be a topic to drive us all nutso for the entire year for sure. I expect West Coast Conference in November to have some lively discussion on the results.!
