I think it boils down to the paradigm.

We could label words... this one is a sin... this one is a sin... this one is not...

Or we could live our lives in a manner that we feel fulfills the nature of the Holy & Righteous God of the universe.

In my attempt to live and walk that way... I don't find the use of such colorful metaphors to be true to what I have learned of His nature.

But if you want a good discussion point, something that motivates your class to study, and/or something that most of them won't really know the answer to... And actually, none of the Ten Commandments is about cursing anyone. Yes, there's one about taking God's name in vain. That could include curses that include God's name, but all the "God!" and "Jesus!" exclamations I've heard Christians use thoughtlessly are included in that category as well.

People do all sorts of things knowing it actually accomplishes nothing, but it still is done due to the reason that in other instances it does do something.
