Re: I Love the UPCI

Thanks Ferd... it's kinda interesting that most of the newer people probably have no idea who I am (from a forum perspective), but I guess that means I have healed a lot upon reviewing my post count... I never found the old usenet groups and IRC chats (even though I used those services all the time)... when I finally found an outlet (at fcf) for my anger and frustration that had literally been bottled up for years (since the kind of questions I asked growing up weren't really acceptable in the church and especially coming from a PK), I just let loose for two or three years. Now I don't feel like wasting the energy going back and forth for hundreds of pages on threads, even though I've done it in the past. Now, I usually post little hit and run comments and then move on, and most people just ignore whatever I wrote anyway.

It's kinda like talk radio for me... I used to listen to it all day, and get all worked up about everything, then finally I realized there wasn't a whole lot I could do about any of the things I was getting worked up about... now I prefer to be un-informed as opposed to mis-informed (a Mark Twain quote I believe).

I've slowly gotten that way with forums as well. I still have a fake account on some Preacher forums just to monitor things, but that is even starting to bore me... and the asssociated facebook profile for the fake account has at least 50 friends (half of which added ME because I was friends with their friends. lol.... it boggles my mind how many people will add you just because you have 7 friends in common, and they don't even realize that the other 6 added you because you were friends with Ruth Reider. )

Now that I'm about to hit 40, I'm realizing that I don't want to waste any more of my life dwelling on things that I can't do anything about... while life just passes me by.

Hello Brad!

Always did appreciate you, even way back on FCF.

Re: I Love the UPCI

Thanks Renda... it's hard to believe some of us have known each other for a decade (or close to it), even though we haven't met in person... and those from IRC and Usenet even longer. It's hard to not pop in once in a while to see old friends and see what's going on, even if we have moved on.

I still remember webby not banning me after I got into it with Boyd and Groce. I can't say that I've ever been treated unfairly here or at any of the previous forums, and when they finally figure out my fake account at the other place, the ban will be well deserved... I really thought it would last a few hours, not a couple of years. lol.

It is hard to believe and very funny to call people "friends" when you never met them, but that's just the way it is around here.

My first exciting forum experience was to try and straighten out that mean ole Bible thumper lady from the west coast. Whoa, she was something else.

Wait, was it Roxanne with the same last name as me? The one who had half the internet password and her husband had the other half? I wonder what happened to her?
