I think it is kind of funny that many times it is the ones who scream about the church emulating the early church in Jerusalem so much who advocate so strongly for the modern day tradition of two services on Sunday though there is no biblical mandate to do that.

I would say to philjones and others that rant about not having two services giving "occasion to the flesh" that there is a reason God said we should rest on the Sabbeth.

I absolutely do not believe that after a great time worshipping God once on Sunday that I am somehow short changing God by then spending time with my wife or family and enjoying God's creation.

The old time Pentecost I grew up in definitely did not have "rest" on Sunday!! You rushed home from church to eat, take a short nap, then get up and get ready to do it all over again.

Amen CC1. As Sherri and I have mentioned before, we only have Sunday morning services at each of our campuses. What you have posted here is exactly how we feel about resting and enjoying our families. Even God Himself rested on that seventh day.

Occasionally, as was the case last Sunday, we have evening services if we have a special speaker or just want to have an Encounter Service and do praise and worship, communion, pray for folks, etc.

I was one of those who took it hard when we changed. It's been approx 5 years and now I love it. There are probably some in our congregations who would love to have the evening services, but I would daresay that they majority love it. And hey, if they go to the Jackson facility, they can always get two services on Sunday anyway if they want to come early and attend both......

Now, Now CC1... RANT... Puh Leezzeee! You need to re-read what I wrote. I clearly said I have no problem with one service on Sunday... just not for the selfish and self serving reasons you and others have listed. I am not sure any of us are honest enough with ourselves to understand fully God's expectations of us. It would seem that some feel that he expects us to be carnal and self satisfying spiritual failures. I just don't agree with that assessment of His expectation.

Now you have something you can post about because this has been an official rant!
