PM does sound a bit like KH after he was elected. A bit out of character in some respects. In years gone by, PM was never known for being a "standards nazi" in any sense. He was also much more careful in the way he approached matters... IMHO.
In fact, PM and AM both appear to have fallen into the same trap. These guys could have been voices that rallied and unified us. Instead they appear to have deliberately chosen to settle in another camp - the camp of the malcontents and antisocial misfits; always belly achin' about somebody else's knickers being too short.

Personally, I think he's bitter because he can't keep up with the technology ... see his website ... and control the dialogue ....

I think AFF would qualify as part of the NOOSPHERE ... and his wife participates and so does he (Twitter) ...
is it consistent enough to ask him to separate from the NOOSPHERE ... in the spirit of Puritanism ???

Are you asking them to not participate?
I think it would be great if they got sucked up in the whole thing - at least for a time. I'd love to see PM as +150 paladin Oxfire in World of Warcraft. He could slay imaginary demons all day long and get it out of his system. And then, when he's ready for the real world his young people might be able to better understand him.

I'm the last guy to throw stones... but you've reminded me of a telephone conversation I had with his key IT guy back in the 1990s. We were talking about something else when I suggested that he put the whole AIS stuff up on a web site (and thus I wouldn't have been calling him).
He groaned audibly. Then in a rather condescending manner he told me that they'd have to spend "tens of thousands of dollars" for the web servers and the Internet connection... It was "out of the question," he assured me.
I asked him, "Why don't you just get a web hosting service?" No money upfront and just a monthly fee. It's completely scalable so that you could start small and expand as your needs expanded. He had no idea what I was talking about.

Thanks, that conversation may be why he hired me and gave me 2 years of free bible college as their first webmaster/it guy

We missed each other by that much? LOL.
They had a pretty cool offering in the mag and the other services. I just couldn't believe that I was the only guy in the Oneness world who saw what "http" was going to bring. The "web" was brand spanking new at the time, but there were already a lot of hosting services.

I just don't like the personal attacks on people, when DAII calls PM, Paul this or Paul that, I didn't know he was on a first name basis with PM. I married into his extended family and grown to admire and respect him. He's always the same, always a christian even when he's not in the pulpit.

IMO people have more credit by attacking the message and not the messenger

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

All sincerity. If your family is really in that great of a need, why leave them? To leave them implies that they are no longer family.

Sarcasm, but again, if the solution is to leave, ones actions prove that's how they feel.

All sincerity. This kind of thinking is more divisive than good and does very little to build up the faith of folks once they start asking the "hard questions".

It's obvious you (cons) stopped praying for them a long time ago.

Yeah, if you're not praying for your church, then you're contributing to the problems.
If you're not praying for your Pastor, don't bother saying amen when he preaches!
I mean, you're a con, look at the church you're leaving! Surely, you're not going to tell me you fast and prayed and God told you to give up on these folks!
You're not telling me that God told you to, "Leave them alone!! My Grace is not enough for them any longer!"
No!
You (cons) leave because you don't have enough passion and maybe even faith to make a difference any more, so you blame others for your unhappiness!
You use spiritual terms to hide behind your laziness and your "set in your ways" selves!
SO LEAVE!!!!!!!!
But when you find your next church home, why not pray for somebody before you decide that these folks aren't holy enough for your liking!!!
|
All sincerity, but I apologize for the harshness of my tone in this post.
