The wedding I attended then has since produced children on the cusp of becoming teenagers, so it's been a while. Do they still have that colored chart showing the flat rate to various areas within and outside of the District?

We vacationed in Washington DC 3 years ago and there wasn't a cab ride any where for $5.00.

No, just a notice saying you have the right to know what the rate is before you go.

The metro is badly run but needed. There is so much mismanagement it is crazy. They just did a report in the paper that they won't release the salaries anymore. They caught a lot of heat the last time they were released.

Given the improvements in the transportation infrastructure, moving 12 million (the President's number) wouldn't be so bad... not so bad for those not being moved, of course.

Look at how Nazi Germany "deported" 6 million Jews... it can be done - but it's inhuman and horrific.

But let's be upfront about the real options. Let's not play one game to create a National Socialist Health Care System (a nazi- style system) like the one the President proposes and Hillary did before him. And then let's not play another game for incorporating our 'guest workers" more closely into our society.

The question of providing health care for the "12 million" (whatever number!) illegals is what Joe Wilson was hollering about. It's the point of the whole "You LIE!" debate.

You act as if this is the first time that legalizing illegal immigrants has been talked about. Ronald Regan said "We have consistently supported a legalization program which is both generous to the alien and fair to the countless thousands of people throughout the world who seek legally to come to America", so stop acting like Obama is trying to pull a fast one. This has been talked about for years.

Mass deportation of all of them will never be done. We can either go along as we are now or try and change their status.

That still does not change the fact that the bill in question does not provide federal funds for illegal immigrants. If amnesty is done, it will still not. It will simply provide health care for 12 million, or whatever number is current, new American citizens.

Still waiting for you to show where "Obama himself has come right out and said that he did "lie" to Joe Wilson, the Joint Session of Congress and everyone of us."

"Light" and others want those undisclosed salaries increased at undisclosed rates.

According to http://dc.taxiwiz.com/ a cab ride from Reagan International to the Air and Space Museum on the mall is $12.00. The same trip on the Metro is a taxpayer subsidized $2.00 - plus the huge carbon foot print for air conditioning the stations and tunnels - but boy is that AC a life saver! I once went into the Metro station to hide from the heat and mugginess - forget the subsidies, I was really suffering, LOL. I'd have grabbed a cab back to the hotel if I wasn't waiting around for a bunch of other people.

Still, I don't see the hypocrisy in either Congressman's comments, nor any racism, nor any grammatical error.

You act as if you could possibly know everything about my views on immigration from a single post.

There have been literally scores of "amnesties" over the years. Most of them simply recognized the de facto situation on the ground. The Chinese who built half of the Inter-Continental railway were largely "illegals." Native Americans used to move freely across both borders and who knew if they were "Mexicans," "Canadians" or "Americans." Today, they are considered citizens of wherever their descendants happened to have landed.

And Reagen was right (he usually was). Not too bad for the offspring of a bunch of Mick immigrants.
