For the record though; I agree that a secular education is probably very important for most people who plan to support families and churches (assuming its within their ability to handle).
Well if my kids aren't consecrated and grounded by the time they leave high school when will they be? My pastor, Jonathan Urshan Sr says that BC is the easiest place to backslide from in the world.

He assisted my pastor - my home church. In the course of that year he was also taking turns preaching (he and our pastor who he was assisting) at a little church a few miles out of the city. After about 6 months, perhaps less, they asked him to become the pastor. We stayed there for a short time but the work grew in that short time.

After that we assisted our DS for about a year.

One day the DS was telling him about a a church that had split and a small group of UPC people were left without a building or pastor. My husband really felt for these people and expressed interest in going to that town. So he went to meet with them, we were voted in and spent two years there.

We started out meeting in a hall, had barely enough money to make ends meet, (we had some help from our section - they paid our rent ) .... but within two years that small group of people worked together and we had purchased a couple acres of prime property - that story is a miracle story - and built a brand new building and were running over a hundred - average attendance - on Sundays!

The idea that everyone "has to go to college" is nonsense. The average pay for an architect in the US is $56,637 yr. The average pay for a level III welder is $52,820. There are plenty of ways to make a good living without spending $35,000 to get a degree.
That still requires some measure of training, even if only as an apprentice. You're kind of knee-jerking.

there are on line degrees you can earn today, that give you credit if you can pass the tests with tthe knowledge you've picked up along life's way.

If someone could just convince the old-timers that 10 percent of a white-collar salary is usually more than 10 percent of a blue-collar salary then this wouldn't be a problem... I think the fear is that the more education one gets, the more likely it is that they will eventually leave the church... before the benefits of the white-collar salary start to show... so maybe the old-timers are right!

Oops, did I say that out loud?

Aren't you sweet.

I'm sorry I get so worked up over this stuff. I just want my kids to do better than me. The last thing they need is someone laying a guilt trip on them about BC.

Well then, I certainly wouldn't send them to Bible School.... However, that being said; I do think there is a time between a child's independence from mom and dad and finding a spouse that will be pivotal for them.

It is preferable I would think to having some special consideration as to God's design on their life; and ideally an ENVIRONMENT that would support their spiritual growth.

I was a little bit more than upset.

Oh, we've also had a preacher call Anna Nicole a whore from the pulpit.

I'm so thankful for the in depth teaching they have been receiving.
Let me start by saying that I don't agree with the BC thing. My son will start college this fall to become a history professor, he wants his PHD. My daughter on the other hand wants to go to TBC.

I would love to know where this meeting is. I have just about given up on UPC youth meetings. There is on going on here now and I was told that last year they had strobe light and smoke and that kind of thing along with the wild music.. Well my kids are not there now and won't be unless things changes.

I would like to know there there is a meeting that preaches holiness and such. If nothing else pm me.
