How do you feel about the government taxing you while you live and taxing your estate AGAIN at your death?

Is my estate the income of another? If I were living and transfered my estate to you would you pay taxes for it?

As long as the government performs the services I pay them to perform I have no issue with it. What I don't like is paying my taxes and the government being AWOL.

The poor have a right to glean. I have no issue with TEMPORARILY helping those with welfare. Most states have laws restricting how long a person can be on welfare today.

How do you feel about having paid into social security since you were 14, only to have the government change the rules when you reach age 45? Now, you must work until age 67 1/2 to receive full benefits, not the 65 promised when you entered the work force?

The Republicans have gutted Social Security for years because they continually fail to balance the budget. Their very philosophy caused this problem. They new if they could gut the system, they would build the case to privatize it. Democrats, looking to fund programs without a balanced budget resorted to the same. Social Security would be in good shape today if the budget was balanced.

How do you feel about the UN telling you how you must conduct yourself to garner world acceptance?

Didn't Bush specifically say we invaded Iraq to defend the authority of the UN? Our boys are dying to enforce the UN's mandate....and it was a Republican who put them there.

How do you feel about abandoning Israel in favor of appeasing those who wish to wipe "Israel off the face of the earth'?

Few (Democrat or Republican) want to abandon Israel.

How do you feel about holding preachers accountable for what the Bible teaches about homosexuality by threatening them with "hate speech"?

As long as one tempers what they have to say with love and respect for the sinner as a person I have no issue. I've heard preachers say things I don't want my 2 year old son hearing or saying. Words like "queer", "f@g", etc. are not cool. And I've seen preachers preach hatred for these people like they are the enemy. They are just sinners. I personally know a preacher in a Church that participated attacking a gay man....and bragged about it. I've seen it over the line.

But, I can see where some might be worried on this point. I'd get around it by making "sexuality" lessons private classes or address it privately in counseling. We have this illusion that everything has to be done in the pulpit.

Aquila, you are wrong about who carries the tax burden. the top 1% pay nearly 50% of the tax burden and the top 10% over all pay nearly 70%

the bottom 50% pay less than 5% of the tax burden.

Incidentally under Jimmy Carter when the rich paid a considerably higher tax rate, they paid a whopping 19% of the tax bill.

lower rates for everyone means that in the end, the economy will grow, the wealthy will make more money, and will pay a greater amount of the total tax bill.

it also means total tax revenue will go up.

this happened under John Kennedy
Ronald Reagan and George W Bush.

While GWB has been very good on economic policy (read tax policy) he has failed on fiscal policy.


spending has been out of whack.


consider the two canidates. McCain has ALWAYS been VERY solid on fiscal policy. even standing against GWB AND Congress on spending.

Obama, while proposing an increase in taxes (read reducing over all tax reciepts) he has also proposed 2 TRILLION dollars in new spending ABOVE current spending levels.



Oh and while it was wrong to print Obamas prayer, it has turned out to be a genious move for Mr. Obama.

Saying that it should be a personal choice for someone to sin or not sin is not agreeing with that sin. Besides, I am convinced there are circumstances that abortion is not a sin. This is why it should not be outlawed.
