My wife was not lying about Santa. It just took a few years for them to realize it was me....

Re: Satan Claus????
We didn't celebrate Christmas when I was a witch until the kids asked to. That was 5 years ago.
Yule had been my holiday of choice before that. It didn't involve gifts at all.
The kids and I developed stories and ideas behind the magic of the season, both magick, and just the whole Christmas season/peace on earth, good will to man, thing.
We celebrated Yule first, the fairies came and put up the tree on Yule night. They left ornaments and decorations out beside the tree too. We decorated it the day after Yule. On Christmas Eve, the fairies filled the stockings, ate the candy we left out, and left surprises around the house to be found over the next few days/weeks, until they were all found. Santa came and delivered all the presents (unwrapped) and ate the cookies. The wrapped gifts were placed under the tree by the fairies, from family members and friends to specific individuals.
This wasn't the holiday I was the most connected with, but I'm definitely missing elements of this right now.
Edited to say I really don't know what I'm saying here. Nor do I know how I'd vote in this poll right now.
I wish I could be naive again, innocent, and just have fun with this. I can't though. For me, yes, Santa is an idol and it would hinder my relationship with God if I were to continue the practices we had in our home for so long. But for others without the associations I have? I don't know.

However, he did get to sit on Santa's lap and take pictures. We do have fun at Christmas time.

This is the way we feel as well. We treat it as any other fable. Pinocchio and Mickey Mouse are also not off limits at our house.

Re: Satan Claus????
Santa is not idolatry; however, that being said, I beleive that it can be just like almost anything else we spend a lot of time on. No, I would not lie to my kid and let him beleive that Santa is real, but that he is nothing more than a seasonal character.
