Disappointed with Cruz siding with the court against Apple. I applaud Tim Cook and Apple for their resistance to this Judge's order.
And it's not as though Apple hasn't obeyed a court order before. This instance is different, however, and it must be resisted because the Judge in this case ordered Apple to create and release to the government software which would allow the government to open all iPhones.
Again, Ted Cruz is on the wrong side here. He should listen to Justin Amash and support Apple.

GOP presidential candidate Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued that "Apple has the right side on the global don't make us do this to every iPhone on the market. But I think law enforcement has the better argument" in unlocking the phone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists during CNN's Republican Presidential Town Hall on Wednesday.
Cruz said that Apple should be compelled to unlock the terrorist's phone because there is a search warrant.
He added, "I think Apple has serious argument that they should not be forced to put a backdoor in every cell phone everyone has. So I think Apple has the right side on the global don't make us do this to every iPhone on the market. But I think law enforcement has the better argument, this concerns the phone of one of the San Bernardino hackers. And for law enforcement to get a judicial search order, that's consistent with the Fourth Amendment. That's how the Bill of Rights operates, to say Apple, open this phone, not Anderson's phone, not everyone's here, open this phone."
Cruz further stated that "[N]obody has a right to defy a legal search warrant." And "[W]hen you have a criminal, when you have a terrorist, we know the San Bernardino terrorists were radical Islamic terrorists. If the Obama administration were not in this politically correct state of denial ignoring that it is radical Islamic terrorism, we should have done more to prevent that attack, but after the fact, we ought to be using every tool we can to ascertain who else they might be in contact with, if there's a broader cell. So, of course, we should unlock their phones and find out who they're talking to, what texts they're sending, and that's a basic matter of keeping this country safe."

It's complicated. I agree with Apple, but I also agree that if the government obtains a search warrant per the rule of law, Apple should follow the order.
Unfortunately, this order must be resisted because it's not only about this one phone. The government is making a play against ALL iPhones.

LoL, that's what I said. Though at first I thought it was about the one phone and I couldn't believe they weren't cooperating. But it's software which will allow the government to hack into all iPhones the government is demanding.

Apple has unlocked 70 phones in the past 8 years.

That is true. But not with any of those did the judge demand Apple create software to give to the government which would allow the government at any time to hack into every single iPhone.
This is why Ted Cruz should be supporting Apple and not speaking against them

Ted Cruz isn't asking Apple to create a backdoor for every phone. He is saying that while Apple has a serious argument that they should not be forced to put a backdoor in every cellphone everyone has, law enforcement has a better argument, in that, they have issued a search order in pursuant to and being consistent with the 4th Amendment to open this "one" phone.
Not every Apple users' phone, just this one. And that is not unreasonable as Apple has opened the 70, and hasn't denied the charge that they have. So, it is possible to open this one phone. Apple is using this issue as a public relations issue, and they are just wrong.
