We're still safe in Forest Falls so far. Big Bear is between us and Lake Arrowhead where 1500 homes are threatened and 300 acres burnt. So far nothing has been said about Big Bear warnings. Keep praying folks, that the fires stop everywhere! Pray God send His angels to ward off the fires and winds.

Santiago has the wind rising straight up with none blowing fire around now.

This whole thing is just making me sick to my stomach, it is such devastation!
I keep stopping and wanting to cry, thinking about all these people who are losing everything. I sometimes joke that it would be a relief to drive up and see that my house had burnt down, but something like this makes you want to take back those kind of jokes.
My prayers are with all of you down there, the material loses are one thing, but your safety is paramount. Please take care!
And Ferd, I agree, it is nothing short of ludicrous to tell So. Californians to go "West"!

I always hurt for the things that can't be replaced - pictures, videos, memories from those past down through the years.
The homes and furniture can be replaced, but it has to be just terrible to lose those things we hold so dear.

Amen Renda. I had a small kitchen fire several years ago. I knew that I was not in physical danger but I didn't know how much damage would be done to my house before the fire dept could get there and put it out.
I gathered up some pics and a few things real quick and put them in my car and moved it across the street. It was kind of surreal thinking, "Okay what is the most important thing that I can move quickly?" I decided as I looked around that there was not much that I couldn't live without.

I agree, there are some things that are just not replaceable, I make sure I have all of my recent pictures (since the advent of digital) backed up on disc, stored at my office. I just read somewhere online last night where they were advising not storing any important documents at your home, only copies. Keep the originals in a safety deposit box at your bank. But there are some things that are just going to be hard to replace (like old pictures) no matter what!
