You must not have been one of those women who spent hours putting her hair in a bun, only to have the hairpins fly out during a 'He's God in the bathroom, He's God at the door, He's God in the Italian restaurant, He's God all over the floor' shockamoo!

LOL!!! My wife wore a simple hairstyle when UPC but it took her forever to get it smooth, etc.
Once we had "gone charistmatic" I said my wife was much more spiritual on Sunday before church. In our UPC days she definitely needed church by the time she got there! LOL
I also remember one time just a few years after we were married and still struggling financially she had a beautiful silk dress she had only been able to have because it was either on clearance or somebody gave it to her (I forget which). Getting ready for church one day she snagged it on a coffee table and ripped it just about all the way around. Not a good day.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

An hour for a bun? I could get extra high and holy hair for an hours time!... And I only slung my hairpins to "What kind of church is this"... or maybe "I'm a Pentecostal"... But by the time I worse these holy hose no amount of shockamoo would move me... They are pristine I tell you!... and only $20 starts the bidding....
The hairball is hilarious! I once had a sister jump from a still moving car, run up behind me and pull the hem of my skirt from the waistband of my pantyhose just as I was about to step through the door and into the foyer where about 30 people were milling around. God bless that wonderful woman.

LOL! You're right. I've never been that kind of Pentecostal. Fixing my hair has never been my top priority. I had someone do my hair on my wedding day and never fixed it up like that ever again. I'm down to no more hairspray - Praise the Lord! - Kevin Murphy products - the best mousse in the world and well worth the price.
The worst part about the hair in my pantyhose - I was wearing a new dress and thought I looked rather nice - never realizing I had a hairball in my pantyhose. It was like being on a first date, smiling demurely with a piece of lettuce on your front tooth.

My wife will never learn or experience the "joys" of the "time for church kids!" two-three hour ritual of getting ready for a service.

Re: A Whole New Level of Apostolic Hero Worship
Well at least you never accidentally "tuck" the toilet seat cover into your skirt instead of flush it and walk around...had a friend tell me that happened to her once.

- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Why not? Jesus healed people with spit. Just be sure to also mention (in the auction,) "Unto thee according to thy faith."
