Re: Leave A Message For The Not So Departed Cons

Thanks for the thread Digging.

Some of us go back a long time. You dont just forget the good people you meet in life. I may not always agree with some of you concerning doctrines and such. But I would hope I could always be kind to you. I have enjoyed meeting some of you, and would enjoy sharing a meal with any one of you. Hey! I'm a preacher, and we like to eat . I don't regret a mile.

Well.....one regret. I wish I would have took more initiative to get with CC1 and Pianoman for lunch when I was there in Nashville. These are 2 top shelf men.

The check is in the mail. (just as soon as I find Pianoman and get him to write it - LOL) You just need to come back to Nashville so we can do lunch.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Howdy again Matt! Nice to see you!

You are a minister licensed by the ALJC if I recall correctly.

If you have any insight concerning young minister stats in the ALJC, I would appreciate your comments on the State of the UPC thread. Are things similar in other conservative Pentecostal groups?

I've been independant forever, so you are mixing me up with somebody else. I have been around the ALJC conferences in recent years. I don't see a great number of young preachers at the meetings, but it could be that the younger men have to work for a living still, and cannot come.

If anyone is going to be in Chatanooga, TN at the ALJC GC I will likely go, and would enjoy meeting you.

and then there is the AMC conference........

As soon as the check gets here I will have the gas money to come.

No really, my daughter is engaged and is supposed to be marrying a young man in Sparta, so I may well get over that way some. If and when I do, I will call you (if your number is still the same...5906?).

Re: Leave A Message For The Not So Departed Cons

I miss all the ole timers I first met when I joined FCF. I loved to read the debates and make me think and go back and reread scripture OR even see another way of interpreting scripture. It was all good.

I loved the history that was shared.

The one liners of Bro. Groce. His deep thoughts.

St Matt's smiling avatar and kind words to everyone.

Thads newsflash...kept me up on what was happening. lol

SE also was one with a lot of church history.

Just to name a few.

Re: Leave A Message For The Not So Departed Cons

I heard about this thread and ventured over to read a while.

Good to see some old friends still hanging around.

Thanks for thinking about the departed once in a while.

Many blessings...
