There is nothing in the Bible that says a person can't use a "bad word" or a "cuss word" either. "Thou shalt not lie" is another that is missing. (Bearing false witness is a form of lying, yes. Not all lies are false witness, and a person can bear false witness without saying anything. A voice inflection, a wink, or a shrug at the right time can indicate something that isn't true.)

Actually to CURSE is technically to speak a negative thing upon a person so as to cause them to be that way or experience that thing. So some CUSS words are actually curses. And the bible says LIFE AND DEATH ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE.

Some cussing is cursing. Not all words we consider "cuss words" are curses though. And a person can curse another without using one foul word.

And... from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. The condition of our speech gives a clue to the condition of our heart.
MFBlume, I wouldn't recommend using cuss words or lying. But when we really look at the verses about those things, we learn a much deeper principle than what we've prided ourselves in keeping. Too many people think if they don't lie they're keeping the Commandment, but they gossip or slander others repeatedly without thinking a thing of it.

Somewhat agreed. I actually cannot think of a cuss word that is not technically a curse. Even dag-nabbit is a distorted form of how God can ......... It is the spirit behind the cuss. The compulsion to SAY something when angry can only stem from an inherent desire to be able to SPEAK bad against something or someone and actually affect it in retribution.

E.g., an expletive is not, in general, a curse, IMO -- uttered to no one in particular, out of frustration or anger, e.g. Even if one could argue that it is technically a curse, does cursing a hammer have any spiritual significance?

Not unless the hammer is your neighbor...
