I was raised in the "Us-four-no-more" "It's SOOO hard to live for Jesus" mentality and one day, following the grand, thunderous opening to the broadcast, Schuller stood up with his flowing robe, stretched out his arms and bellowed, "Todaaaay.........is a Wooooonnnderful day........to be........a Chrrrrristian". And the pipe organ blew the walls down with the intro to the next song.

Something happened in me that day that has never left me. I took up the "Easy yoke" and "Light burden" of Christ and I've never set it down again. Yes, it's a daily renewal, but I now know that it's truly a wonderful day to be a Christian.
Everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. I agree that all to often some folks get into the us 4 and no more, hold the fort mentality, but that's not the mentality of Christ. That type of thinking want encourage anyone to follow you as you folow Christ.

That's wonderful, sounds like God lifted your burden.
I wasn't raised in the same atmosphere, other then the fearful home I grew up in, but it's been very hard to seperate the fear from one place to another.

When the burden gets too heavy for me God prompts me and reminds me of the time I tried to say good-bye to Him, thanking Him for trying to save me, but I just couldn't live up to what I thought He and others expected.
He stopped me in my silly farewell and said: "Love Me, love others and I'll take care of the rest"! Now, that was liberating. I still feel His wonderful presence when I think of it.
He's far better, far kinder, far more merciful then anyone unknowingly, or knowingly gives Him credit.

I know when I want to point out my husband's faults/sins, God stops me in short order! Not long ago I did it anyway and afterwards God spoke to me and said: "What about you?" ah...oops!

I just don't think it's what God has asked us to do. He's asked us to love Him, love others and has said everything else hinges on those two commands.

As a minister I am always aware of the "what about you?" question to myself when I teach or preach. Thankfully the mercy and grace God would extend to others also is extended to me!

Thank the Lord perfection is not a requirement to help others.

Okay, but that doesn't answer my question.
Have you, face to face pointed out someone's sin?

Yes and with as much love of Jesus as I could. And not with condemnation. Even Jesus told the woman caught in the act of adultary to go and sin no more.

Yes, He did say that to the woman. But, He didn't go to her, the pharisees brought her to Him.

I'm presuming that when you do this, it's a brother or sister and not someone who is still a sinner and it's done as your role as a minister?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but I do appreciate you answering.

It was on a personal level, not to a stranger. The one instance that comes readily to mind was as evident as in the case we talked about Jesus, but not the same type of sin. It was as a minster and friend.

Oh, so back to the original point of the thread:

I hate the sin of caffeine addiction!

Let's do a sin comparison here, Deadeye. I've never had a sip of coffee in my life. You?
