Re: Mark Barnaby has resigned his church? Left UPC

The only right and Godly thing to do (if he is indeed having marital issues) is to step aside. This however does not mean that he has sinned, or faltered from his beliefs.

I personally know a few pastors who have gone through this. They will either have a close friend (or family member) step in an pastor the church while the issue is resolved, or completely resign.

1 Timothy 3:1-5
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop... A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, One that ruleth well his own house...For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?

Taking the time to focus on your personal life is the Godly thing to do. This will keep you blameless before God AND the World.

PERSONAL OPINION:
I have always been taught the following order; God, Family, Church.
1) Be sure your own salvation is good
2) Be sure your family is safe and in line
3) Then take care of the church.

I have seen to many men of God neglect their family over pursuit of "Political Power" or to much time spent "working" for the church.

If it was cancelled then there is a chance for reconciliation .. hopefully that can happen.

Re: Mark Barnaby has resigned his church? Left UPC

I was intrigued by casenet and did a new search. He has a "criminal/infraction" case against him dated 2/3/11 by the city of Hazlewood so I am guessing that is probably a traffic ticket.

I also saw the divorce and restraining order. The divorce case says "not disposed". The protection order shows "tried by court".

While doing that search some site popped up that told me their home address, the size of their lot, the size of their house, their property taxes, etc. The information age is scary!

I also ran across some very unhappy daycare customers who did not have very nice things to say about him or the asst. pastor. Of course there are a lot of nutty people out there who could be lying or exaggerating.

Ah yes ... definitely not a traffic ticket under charges ... that's sad, if found to be true.

Yikes! You guys are right. Not exactly the court track record you want if you are a pastor. Very sad. I bet he can preach a mean "Fruit of the Spirit" sermon. I bet his favorite fruit is meekness.

Makes me wonder about other denominational pastors and their character. God is the final judge. I just don't want to attend a church that has "other" things going on other than Jesus Christ.
