The only thing wrong with facial hair is that it's itchy.

Mine don't itch - I shower daily! My wife loves it and asked me to grow it!

Calm down......just read and enjoy...apply if you're so inclined.. if not...by a case of nose hair trimmers and freak-out on the tickles.
One reason you get anger and emotion is because the no facial hair standard is a non-biblical tradition that has caused much harm to people over the years, yet it is taught as a biblical commandment (adding to the Word). It is not even in the UPC Articles of Faith, bylaws, or the affirmation statement. It is simply an unwritten rule within Pentecost that many are now taking issue with, which threatens those in power who are afraid that other "standards" will start to be scrutinized.

When we see doctrines as weak as this one and the convoluted logic that is used to justify them, we wonder if the people promoting this doctrine think we are really that stupid.

You shouldn't be offended that people have a desire to accept the scripture over UPC tradition, it should thrill your heart, unless your relationship is with the org. instead of God.

BTW - I am a UPC Pastor and I have a mustache. It is a biblical conviction that I don't not want to look or act feminine. Clean shaven, men wearing suits and ties are the very personification of vanity, pride and effeminate clothing, (the Bible calls it soft rainment). So your vainty argument is a strawman.

So to imply that it would have been stones thrown at Jesus is alarming. Nay, I say NAY.....just talking to us wasps here. (and maybe a spattering of hispanic or african or asian) but the directive was to the corinthians who were both light and dark. needless to say it was to the gentiles.

Don't ignore the value of dedication by self sacriice to obey the principles of humility. Paul said; He chose the weak to confound the strong, the foolish to confound the wise, the base to bring down the ones who have made themselves some high person.....so that no flesh should glory in His presense.
I think I'm getting it.... Jesus was still becoming enlightened and under the law personal hygiene and facial presentations where a nonissue until the church was born at pentecost.
