Re: PO, Ferd and other Texans

Esther,
Thought you would be interested to know that Debra Medina's Fan Page went from 4,500 fans in 12/18/09 to 14,435 by 02/04/10.

She overtook KBH at 14,389.

Pretty big numbers!

Re: PO, Ferd and other Texans

If folks go to La to buy a car they will pay La taxes, and then when they want to get Texas plates they will pay Texas taxes.

No sales will remain here in Texas unless they are unaware of this. I found out the hard way when we moved here from out of state.

Impressive. I think Medina is in Beaumont either today or tomorrow, not sure exactly. Just caught part of the advertisement on the radio today.

LOL! riiiight.... very funny! tell your friend tttttttttttttt from me....

I promise you, all big screen TVs, clothes etc will be purchased outside of the great state of Texas....

PS the population centers of El Paso, Dallas/Ft Worth, Beaumont and Tyler are all close enough to other states that there will be cross over.

maybe it wont be giant, but it might be enough to make a 9% tax be 10% or 11%!

knuclehead.

I think it would have to be a significant difference before anyone would pay gas for a few dollars savings. Plus the time you would lose. However, IF you were going out of town already then maybe. But La has a fairly high tax as it is in Shreveport, don't know about other areas.

How is the no income tax and no property tax going to mean diddly squat with purchases going out of state? Those are big purchase items, Ferd!
this is my point.... which was really bad because my spelling and syntax was TERRIBLE!

my point is, that there are enough people that will work around the sales tax that it will impact it.

any getting around a tax that is legal is ok with me.

i dont care if that makes me bad.

I hate income tax. I see the holes in the property tax issue (old folks having to sell homes because they cant pay for a paid for house) but i just see holes in the sales tax...

I am not trying to reject it on this one point though....

what is Shreveport now? 9%

the Texas sales tax is 8.4 give or take a few points.

it will have to go up pretty steeply to restructure all the revenue collected from business income taxes and property taxes.

I think it is about 8.65 now, if I remember correctly.
