It probably won't send ya to hell, but it might send you to heaven quicker than you meant to go!

I thought you meant a tobacco like product. Drugs and booze have been around for many years. We see booze in the bible but not narcotics like opium, I wonder why

People always tend to see the Bible through the lens of what they've been taught....they forget it was a big bad world back then too.

How come we don't see any mention in scriptures? No doubt this occurred in many middle eastern nations, but the idea of it happening in the midst of Judaism is missing from the bible

that is like saying sex is sex, if one form of sex is sin all forms of sex is a sin. Your assertion needs to be supported. You can't just make assertions like that and expect it to stand on it's own

1Co 6:12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything.

Re: Will Smoking Send You To Hell
1Ti 3:1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.
1Ti 3:2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
1Ti 3:3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
2Ti 4:5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
1Pe 1:13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1Pe 4:7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

It was just a cultural and customary thing. In the Middle East it's been customary, and still is, to share a pipe or chew a leaf (can't remember it's name) after a meal. It's a lot like the "peace pipe" customs of the American Indians. These things may have just been taken for granted in the biblical writings. Many customs are like this. The "eye of the needle" reference by Christ and the "tears" (tear bottles) the woman used to wash Christ's feet...all of these refer to things and customary practices that are not really meantioned in the Bible.
