Well Mr. Stewart, it is sad when some people have it so engrained and then give up on it, which is what I refuse to do, but let me ask you something, what about your kids? Will they grow up and do the same thing you do? Or will they see what you watch and go further?
Kendrick, the point is that many people have Biblical principles engrained, and that is what keeps them right no matter the medium or technology. I have learned to guard my heart and not selectively attack technology. It is this ability to guard my heart that keeps me whether there is a TV, computer, real live women walking around, billboards, etc...
Of course I do not know you so this is not directed at you in particular, but I have noticed that a lot of the people who are so hard-line UC do not really learn how to guard their heart. I have heard many hard-liners complain after church about what a lady was wearing and how much it showed...and if you put a gun to my head I could not have told you who they were talking about because I'm not even looking at or for that.
Perhaps this is why many of them find it so inconceivable that someone can be responsible and disciplined in what they choose to watch.
It's kind of like coloring in a coloring book versus painting on a canvas. There are those who are handicapped to the point that they think it is impossible to paint a beautiful picture with your heart unless all the lines are specifically given to you.

well i cannot say that the Bible talks about no television, but i do have to say that television is a conviction of the heart like everything else, internet, smoking, drinking etc, if you have a problem with any of these than i think you need not to do it, read it, drink it, smoke it, there are things we do not beleive in, the television is literally a conviction of your own, what ever you put to your eyes or to your mouth or to your ears etc, if you know it is a sin dont do it, if you have a problem with the internet then get rid of it, if you have a problem with television get rid of it,
if you spend more time with television or internet and thats all ya do- than i think that is wrong, why sit around all day and watch television or get on the web, there is better things to do-read your Bible , go for a walk, i know people who all they do is stay home and watch television or get on the web then obviously they are addicted, its time to do things prosporous,
i do not have a television because i have 4 children and all they would do is fight for what to watch and it became a devision in the home, so now that we do not have one they have found other things to do, they go fishin, they go shoppin, they go find something to do with their friends, so now it is more quiet around here, plus we have no time to watch it anyway.
but i still have no problem with it, it is your discretion, or conviction, just becareful what your eyes see, and be careful what your ears hear and so on, if your that weak in the flesh get rid of the problem that is plain and simple,,
theres things we get in the mail does that mean we cant accept our mail- we have bills to pay etc, just thow it away, dont look at it.
dont get me wrong i am against drinking and smoking and other things,
but television and internet is ok, i just prefer not to have one

I thought a forum is where you discuss things....I don't think BK is foisting his convictions on anyone....he is discussing them.....just like the others that are for TV. This is great!! I like to see why people believe what they believe.
