My problem with fog and strobe lights is when it's used during normal worship time. My pastor told me about visiting a church in Arizona to preach and during the congregational singing and worship time, suddenly the lights were turned out and the strobes began flashing while people we're worshipping through song.
In normal worship settings(aka singing and worship time), I fail to see how that gives glory to God or draws attention to HIM.
Obviously, David advocating using instruments to worship God. Given the size of buildings and the necessity for people to hear, we all use electronics to help convey the audio. I haven't come up with an actual reason why fog and smoke during song services help convey the message more clearly or efficiently. Maybe for the first time, I'm actually a Con on an issue.

It was music that drove away the evil spirit from Saul as David played. Music is very powerful and in the hands of HG filled people it can do wonders.

Re: Colored Lights/Smoke Machines/Strobe Bright Li
I would agree that most of the church world today has decided it can do church without depending on the Holy Spirit to do what only he can do. Most of my generation thinks that if you turn the music up a little louder, say the phrase over and over again, and jump up and down a few times, then the Spirit will move.
IMO, if your depending on strobe lights and smoke machines to set the atmosphere for worship, you may be depending on the wrong thing.
I still haven't read a response that tells me why these things draw attention and praise to HIM during a normal worship setting.

What is wrong with these things. I never read anywhere in the Bible where Beer drinking, dope smoking, Strobe lights, and good ole heavy metal music was wrong. Can you show me chapter and verse where these things are wrong you judgmental christians? I am trying to win people to God folks. Come on over to my church. We aren't any different than anyone else. Wow talk about Revival.
Then all of a sudden we could dust off that ole Bible and show them Acts 2:38
Then we can call our buddies and tell them we had a million in Sunday school. AFF would be rocking.
I think we have found the answer to reaching a lost world right here on AFF we will have all 7 billion of them in the bank in no time.
Any way we can folks, any way we can.
Look like them
Act like them
Sing like them
Watch television like them
Throw parties like them
I am doing it for Christ people. Don't you dare jump on here and criticize my methods of reaching the lost unless you have specific chapter and verse as to why it is wrong. If it is not plain like: Thou shalt not smoke dope... then you are making your own doctrine if you say it is wrong.
Does it make you any holier than me if you don't practice soul winning this way?
Don't dare be judgmental.

Re: Colored Lights/Smoke Machines/Strobe Bright Li
The modern day church has many things the first church did not have...
Tomorrow we will have a very emotional communion and foot washing service and a time of renewing our vows to the Lord...
It will be very different from you run of the mill services there...I have worked all week preparing for it...
We have sit up a Kippah to remind us of vows to our heavenly Bridgroom...

The lights and smoke are really more for adding emphasis, especially if they're done right. So, when ya gonna shave, now that you have crossed the ultra-conservative bridge to righteousness?

The Holy Spirit must lead us and as we are led we will do our best to reach souls for the Kingdom.
