NY is the same way .... Here in Texas many are culturally ignorant, IMO. Not all but quite a few.

Yes, It has a cosmopolitan feel. The south is very country

1 Corinthians 7:39 give us an example of a wife ability to marry ONLY anyone in the Lord. It reads nothing about ethnicity.

Also, notice similar instructions in Deuteronomy 7:1-6.

The dilemma presented was marrying outside the "Church" would cause Israel to turn away from God.


Those against interracial marriage, I'd openly rebuke you if admin allowed it. Nevertheless, I'm open to discuss this situation with the anti-interracial crowd.

If people are saved and they have their Pastors blessing, how could I be against it?
If I have a preference for my own race, when it comes to marriage, thats not being prejudice.
I can understand why people are against inter racial marriages. My understanding their reasons, does not equal bigotry or prejudice.

I'm not sure how much liberty I have to share a story and I do not want to offend anyone. But, I'll share it. I'm white, and my Dad is (was) basically against inter racial marriages. A long time ago, I asked my Dad if I could marry a very light skin african american women who was very, very pretty? I wasn't dating anyone I just wanted to see what he'd say. He thought for a long time... looked me straight in the eyes.. and said.. how pretty??

I'll save you 1/3rd of the witch hunt. I am one of the yes votes but not because of racism but because of the enormous strain put on the marriage by the people we live among who Dan was refering to. One point most are missing is the racism runs both ways. We have a niece (white) in a relationship with a very hard working, very nice black man whose family will not recognize or have anything to do with the kids. I had a cousin married to an american indian who was raised on the reservation. The cultural differences were enormous and the marriage ended in divorce. I'm not against it on a case by case basis but they should understand there are many, many ignorant biased and mean people that they and their kids will have to deal with. I will say both cases I referred to are not people in the church.
