If you are not willing or are afraid to communicate to your pastor as to your whereabouts, there is a serious relationship problem. It is just common courtesy. If you trust him to be your pastor and feel that he loves you, why wouldn't you want him to know where you are and that everything is ok. So that he is not up on the platform trying to concentrate on getting his sermon together wondering if you're in a car accident or something.

What does this mean the Pastor gives an account for us? I don't think the Pastor is going to give an account for me. Jesus paid the price on Calvery.
I don't understand the mentality that has people reporting to the Pastor everytime they are going to miss church....I wonder when the church gets to a certain size if the Pastor is really going to notice anyways

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

By the way, I've heard the bolded statement said over and over in Apostolic circles. It's funny tho that I've never ever heard it said in any other church circles. No one has ever shown me scripture that says that. I'm not saying it's not there and not interested in arguing about it. But I'd be grateful if you could give me chapter and verse for that statement.

Yes and we care about our Pastor too....but he never calls up the saints and says "Hey...I won't be in church this morning as I have a late morning T time"

8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
From Ephesians 4 Seems like God gave leaders to the church for the perfecting of the saints.....

I agree that a pastor of a large church (and you don't have to get that big before this would become a problem) would have a problem answering the phone to hear the various reasons for the absent saints. However, in a lot of large churches they have groups set up called care groups that check on each other and report in to the pastor. Now before the fur sticks up on some people's back....this is to check on each other to see how everyone is doing, if there are needs that need to be addressed, prayers that need to be prayed etc. Contrary to what people believe Pastors do want to know where you were on service night because they do care and they want to know that you are ok. This leave me alone attitude, don't bother me, I don't need a pastor attitude reminds me of a teenager that goes into those know it all years. Some saints just need to mature a little bit and realize that it's not all about them. It's like a teeanager that has no clue when they were out until 2am, that Mom and Dad were worried. Pastors do care and I do believe that a great majority of them do. There may be a few who are bad apples but I have met a lot of Pastors and 99.9 percent of them really want to see their saints make heaven their home.

the Pastor could have an automated system answer the phone "Hello, this is Pastor john...I care for your souls so very much that I took this time to record this message. Please leave the reason why you will be missing church after the beep. Please note that our 24 hour screeners are hard at work weeding out the good reasons from the bad reasons and should yours be a good one like you are in a coma they will be sure to leave a note for me when I return from my daily T time and I will rush to your bed side with a signature prayer cloth....a point of contact that I have personally used to wipe the sweat off my face while preaching. For you love offering of 59 dollars or more, I will personally slip this under your head and agree with you for healing."

For a single person who lives alone and who has no family within a 3 hour drive, I welcome a call from anyone that is concerned for my welfare. Otherwise I could be dead and stiff before anyone would remember to even think about me. Sometimes people just want to know that they matter.

KJ, with all due respect, this does does not fall under pastoral duty - unless you have been missing several services. And even then It is more of a thing that a friend would/should be doing.
